AP Psychology Project 2nd 9 weeks (Choose one of the following) Sensory Deprivation Assignment – this assignment will give students an appreciation for how much we rely on our senses. Students will choose a sensory system to disable and spend a couple of hours with their new disability. Students may wish to have their parents take them to dinner or any other activity they may normally do. Students will submit a 2 page paper on their experiences. They will need to incorporate terminology from Chp.3 Sensations and Perceptions. o (Requirements: Minimum 2 page typed, double spaced, size 12 Times Roman font) o Sensation o Perception o JND o Absolute Threshold o Habituation o Sensory adaptation The Interpretation of Dreams Select several of the dreams you recorded and analyze them using Freud’s theory of wish fulfillment, the activation synthesis hypothesis, and the activation –information-mode model (AIM).You will need to describe each theory and give examples of how it would relate to your dreams. o Dream Journal - You should keep a journal and pencil beside their bed. As soon as you wake up from a dream, record as many details as you remember as quickly as possible before the dream starts to fade. Keep this project going for several weeks since not everyone remembers their dreams every night and it may take a while to build up a substantial journal. Interpret your dreams based on differing dream interpretation theories in Chp.4. Students will submit their journal along with apaper on their experiences. o (Requirements: Minimum 2 page typed, double spaced, size 12 Times Roman font) Book Review – read “the curious incident of the dog in the night” This book is about mathematically-gifted fifteen year old autistic boy, Christopher, who decides to investigate the murder of a neighbor's dog and uncovers secret information about his mother. Our Library has several copies. o Requirements: Minimum 2 page typed, double spaced, size 12 Times Roman font) Autistic Spectrum Disorder-Neurodevelopment disorder that involves issues in the following: o Thinking o Feeling o Language o Social interactions Describe how Christopher illustrated these issues.
