Director Of Research is the stationâ™s conduit for strategic information on the station’s internet, sales, news, digital and programming performance. This position reports to the Director Of Sales. · Input and maintain current rating, estimate and programming information in the Wide Orbit Sales Avail computer system. · Prepare on-going analysis of market program audiences and program estimates. · Develop printed sales collateral information for use by Sales Account Executives and Management team for purpose of positioning Station within the competitive environment. · Present relevant research information to clients, sales and station management. Meet with clients in person when necessary to present research about the station and its properties; help attract new revenue to the properties. · !
Assist news and creative services departments with strategic decisions based on various forms of market research, up to and including Nielsen and Rentrak data, and dat a regarding newscast performance and related. · Work with senior management and consultants to determine research needs, craft questionnaires and analyze data. · Assist in marketing initiatives, working with the
Director Of Sales, Local Sales Manager and National Sales Manager, in creating and maintaining sales campaigns and presentations. · Provide direction to National Sales offices in development of sales positioning information for use by national sales and oversee national rep firm research presenta tions. · Access Kantar Media data and supply monthly reports to sales. · Track station’s digital trends through the use of web traffic tracking systems such as Omniture and Comscore. · Work closely with Nielsen,
Scarborough, Rentrak and representatives ! from other vendors. Advocate on behalf of station in terms of ! research and sample quality, etc. · Prepare PowerPoint presentations for Sales Persons, Management team, etc. for Sales presentations,
MidYear reviews, budget meetings, etc. · Perform other duties as needed
Education Required:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, media, research or a related field.
Experience Required:
Minimum 5 years media research experience.
Other Requirements:
Skills & Abilities· Must possess excellent written and verbal presentation skills. · Must be well-organized. · Must be a self-starter.·
Be able to work within a team environment. Have the ability to analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources is essent ial.·
Working knowledge of personal computer operation is required. Additional required programs are Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft
Word. Preferred programs: Wide Orbit, Wide Orbit Sales, Scarborough, Nielsen, Rentrak and related systems. Experience with web data systems such as Omniture or Comscore is preferred.
