330 CZM Cozumel. DEC 12 0454 UTC 330 kHz`"CZM" longwave beacon. [Renfrew-NY]
540 XESURF Tijuana, BCN. heard with new NOS format "540 The Surf" IDs at 0500 EST 3/26. Woman gave ID in SS,
but strong QRM from 2AP Western Samoa wiped out the call. By the time the signal came back, the song "The
Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra was playing. [Martin-OR]
540 XETX Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua. 0630 with slogan "La Ranchera de Paquime." They were playing a
childrens song and then at 0635 an ID and then into ranchera. [new] [Redding-AZ]
+ JAN 20 0500 - heard weakly under XEWA, but still a very clear ID "...quinientos-quarenta [540], X-E-T-X, La
Ranchera de Paquime", followed by woman talking. New log for me. [Stewart-MO]
+ MAR 22 0455 - Good with "La Ranchera de Paquime" slogans. Station puts out a good midday signal all across
SE Arizona. [Hall-AZ2]
+ "La Ranchera de Paquime," NOV 11 0443-0503. This one strong and perfectly readable during most of this
period in XEWA's null, but there were two dips in signal strength, predictably one occurring right at the top of the
hour. But the low-key male disk jockey did mention XETX on a couple of occasions during his spiels between
each record. There was a full ID at 0500 and a short commercial break, then at 0501:30, this: "El cober[?] es total
desde Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, La Ranchera de Pasquime [I transcribed it Desquime, close], en el
quinientos cuarenta AM." Followed with an oompah bandera tune. [Callarman-TX]
540 XEWA San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí. 2/10 0348. Spanish. Good signal. PSA from “Instituto de Segura
Naciónal” [or sim.], promo for program “Instituto W”. [Knight-AZ]
+ 0552-0559 3/3. Very entertaining cowboy soap opera with bits of old American western songs [like "Ghost Riders
of the Sky"] mixed in for dramatic effect. The end of the program, which I heard, all took place in Tejas and
involved a lot of pistol work. Good dominent signal on all antennas, even without the phaser, and nice ID at 0558.

540 UNID La Norteñita; 0323 SP M ancr w/slogans, saludos, musica norteña, gave time as "1 y 23 minutos". Mexico
has already gone back to STANDARD TIME, so this station is in the MOUNTAIN ZONE! Who's here using "La

Sep?]. Also noted last night around 0200 UTC with program in German. Fair/good with KLZ-560 splatter.

560 XEGIK Monclova, Coahuila. "La Acerera" noted at 1418 CDT 9/7, with cochannel Beaumont nulled on my GESuperadio-III, local news and information by man in Spanish with mention of the Continuing construction at the
"Plaza Pricipal" [Main Plaza]. They've got a nice website at:

+ OCT 27 1757-1806 [off and on] Taped a couple of "Acerera" slogans amid the music here, but this was one I

+t Nov 6 0432 - Spanish, ID: '10:41 en Sabor del Norte', Norteña music, call ID started with 'XE', but didn't catch.
Also, 'Casa Blanca - El Sabor del Norte' slogan. Could be the name of a program and was used between songs.

560 XESRD Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango. 11/23 2301 playing the Mexican National Anthem, ID then into SS
version of "If I Told You, You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold it Against Me." Primera Vez. [Redding-AZ]
560 XEXZ Zacatecas, Zacatecas. MAR 25 0624 - Upbeat music and "La Zeta" slogans. [Hall-AZ3]
560 UNID DEC 29 0436 - with numerous "Radio 560 La Poderosa" IDs and bugle sound effects. Semi-local KLVI nulled.
Began to fade at 0512 during "... La Poderosa ... transmitiendo ... las grande ..." ID. [Ponder-TX]
570 XEBJB Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. OCT 25 2045-2102 Audio logo heard after each song consists of very quick sung
call letters "XEBJB" followed by accordion theme consisting of first eight bars of "Beer Barrell Polka." "La Estacion
del Barrito" and "Grupo Radio Alegria" mentioned only in full top-of-the-hour ID, which also said schedule was 5
a.m. to midnight rather than listed 24 hours. [Callarman-TX1]

XETJ Torreon, Durango. Feb 27 1235 - After several nights of following this station all night at TOH [recordings]
finally heard a clear call ID along with the oft repeated new slogan 'La Invasora' often sung be female group.
Signal rarely higher than threshold levels. [Bryant-OK]
XEUK Caborca, Sonora. 2/10 0350. Spanish. Fair to good signal with ID: “U-K…de la radio en Caborca”, into slow
ranchera music. [Knight-AZ]
+ OCT 5 0402 - Farmacia ad; program note for morning news; then Continue with "U-K" evening news; faded briefly
then back up at 0408 with sports. Fair on peaks but splatter from local KLZ-560. New here, XE #186 and SON

+ 10/23 1146 playing romantic baladas. This one is tough to get because of splash from KSAZ. If not for that, they
would be easy. [Redding-AZ]
XEVX Comalcalco, Tabasco. Noted daily in null of XEBJB- Monterrey, with light "musica romantica" plenty of ads
mentioning Villa Hermosa and Comalcalco. One ad mentioning "Zapateria Mexico", a shoestore in Comalcalco.
Now mentioning 10mil Watts de Potencia, so an upgrade from the latest IRCA MEXICAN LOG, fair-good signal,
600mile o'er the GULF path. You[se] Guys within earshot of the GULF and in Florida should check for this one.
Only slogan I heard was "Quinientos-Setenta" [570]. [Wiseblood-TX]
UNID was a GY-like frequency on most of the overnite recordings 27FEB and 28FEB02 with R. Reloj-Cuba "RR"
every minute in the mush and WVMI-MS with ABC news on almost every TOH. 0600Z 27FEB02 had a very weak
choral MxNA. XETJ ID heard only once at 0802 27FEB02 but ususally heard some sporadic SS in other time
periods, likely them. 1158Z 27FEB02 brought another choral MxNA into SS announcements way too weak to
catch detail. 0558Z and 0559Z 28FEB02 brought brief pieces of two MxNA's, 0558Z a choral version and 0559
an instrumental version noticably slower than other instrumental versions heard on other stations. 0606Z
28FEB02 KLIF-TX popped up briefly, but the rest of the nites recordings were a jumble with Cuba and Biloxi
mixing. 1204Z 28FEB02 instrumental MxNA by a different instrumental group than usually heard, could be a
distinctivly IDable MxNA. A couple of SS stations heard mixing it up following the anthem...more monitoring

XEFI Chihuahua, Chihuahua. 2240 12/29 playing banda and ranchera, using slogan Radio Mexicana like a zillion
others. Had an ad run with local Chihuahua businesses. Much QRM from KMJ which was also weak in the poor
AU CX as of late. New. [Redding-AZ]
+ DEC 31 0600 - with "Radio Mexicana" singing ID, then commercial spot for local business in Chihuahua. Good ID
at 0603, "Escuche Radio Mexicana XEFI ... 5 mil watts ... en Chihuahua ... Grupo Radiorama" using "Radiorama"
jingle at the end of the ID. Music played next was ballad "Love Me With All Your Heart" [in Spanish]. [Ponder-TX]
+ DEC 15 1302 - XE anthem; canned ID at 1304 with usual data and "Radio Mexicana" slogans. Fair, with XEMU

XEHO Ciudad Obregon, Sonora. MAR 24 0524 - ID "XEHO La Fuerza de la Palabra." Several stations seem to be
relaying XEDA-1290 with this slogan or "Radio Trece" slogan, including XEVSS-650, XEDL-1250 [same market
as XEVSS!], and XESS-1450. [Hall-AZ2]
XEMU Piedras Negras, Coahuila. Mar 14 0330 - Heard with good level with ranchera program. Multiple uses of the
'La Rancherita' slogan and ad strings for businesses in Piedras Negras. [Bryant-OK]
+ IDed with full calls here this am at about 1100 GMT 11/13/01. I was able to null out local WILL a bit, as they were
on heavily reduced night power. Their BBC and NPR talk programs were easy to listen thru. Their signal was fair,

XEFD Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Feb 2 0200 - Noted in passing with a good signal and full ID and 'La Consentida'
slogan, into Tejano music. No sign of Rebelde, my usual dominant. [Bryant-OK]
+ OCT 25 1927+ I didn't spend much time with this station since it's often heard in Krum. In addition to the
Consentida slogan, in a promo, it indicated it uses "Noti-Gape" information programming. [Callarman-TX1]
+ DEC 28 1247 - Finally ID'ed this mystery stn I've been hearing lately. Talk show, local I think, in progress, CST
TC's and temp checks in F and C. Reynosa and Rio Bravo spots at 1300, then 2 minutes of apparent news with M
& W. At 1303, call ID, "La Consentida" slogan, then "Informativo Policiaco," which I assume was a police report.

+ DEC 3 1240 - SS station here with low-key talk or news program, couldn't make out much. Looped generally SE maybe the same stn Eric heard. KID in Idaho has been known to run SS occasionally, but propagation was

interview, hard to tell with KCSJ and other QRM. Program ended or paused around 1257, but faded and don't

XEHW Rosario, Sonora. MAR 23 0202 - Ad for Muebleria Sonora, followed by ID. Sounded like they announced
1kW but I'm not sure. [Hall-AZ2]
XEMN Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. 4/21 0400 with TOH ID after playing some nice old Mexican mariachi ballads with
some real primo vocal harmonies. Got calls, COL and slogan "La Regiomontana con mil watts de potencia." [new
or for SSers, la primera vez!] [Redding-AZ]
+ OCT 27 1730-1800 taped audio logo at 1730 while on road 48 miles south of Laredo, Texas. At 1759, taped
promos and full ID with heavy production, lots of different sounds, ending with "Grupo Radio México." This is not
the strongest Monterrey signal, and is subject to sideband QRM from XEFD-590 on east side of the valley and
XEBX-610 in the west. [Callarman-TX1]
+ 04DEC02 0600 w/instr MxNA ending at 0602:30 to nice call letter ID ("XEMN-AM")and "La Regiomontana" slogan
into "bouncy" instrumental mx, mixing with WREC and KTBB, Mexican #73 from Tulsa [Winkelman-OK]
XEBX Sabinas, Coahuila. fair/good in WDAF null around 0315 UTC 1/19 with no IDs heard but tropical music and
numerous spots for businesses in Sabinas. Unneeded here. [Stewart-MO]
+ Jan 27 1304 - Here with local noticias from Coahuila. Used 'B-X' as reference to station. Also noted Mexican
National Anthemn at 1306, beneath B-X. The best candidate for this second station may be XEGS in Guasave,

+ Nov 6 0410 - Spanish, very good peaks, música romántica, 'BX' and 'La Primera' slogans, announcer gave time

XEBU Chihuahua, Chihuahua 2/9 0115. Spanish. Very good signal with “La Norteñita” slogans, mentions of
“Chihuahua”, announcements. Some KTAR QRM. [Knight-NM2]

XEFRF 23APR02 0458:30 ID on top of freq for XEFRF-970 and I think others in presumed Candena Nacional
network list, then into MxNA. Who on 620 is relaying XEFRF or is on the Cadena Nacional network? Seems to me
I've seen a reference to this on either this list [can't seem to find it in archive search] or on the NRC maillist. Any

XEGH Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas. 5/27 2053. Mexican baseball play by play "Veracruz vs Reynosa." [Wiseblood-TX]
+ 11AUG02 0503Z "Bonita... XEGH... con mil watts de potencia..." weak but alone on top. New Mexican for me.
Heard at various times on all recordings this overnite period and 15/16/17 Aug UTC recordings as well w/lots of
"Bonita" and "La musica de bonita", mostly mixing with KMNS and KMKI. [Winkelman-OK]
+ TAMS OCT 25 1623+ Bonita is the correct word for the old-style Mexican music this station plays. It is very strong
throughout the Rio Grande Valle, though it announces only mil watts during its TOH ID. [Callarman-TX1]
+ DEC 3 0102 – just tuned across frequency and managed to catch a legal ID “Eh-kees Eh Heh Ah-chay… con mil
watts de potencia… [location mentioning “Estado de Tamaulipas”]… mixing with a bunch’o’domestics. Same full
ID ran again 0106. No sign of XEBU which I usually hear on this channel. New log. [Stewart-MO]
+ With WTMJ phased out I heard a SS mx stn w/what seemed like some "La Bonita" ID's so I assume XEGH
Reynosa. Nothing was strong at all on 620 tonite including WDAE. Sunday Night cx were very good and La Hora
Nacional was loud here and I think that station went off or faded as around 0600 I heard a couple of R.Nicaragua
ID's and a short NA which I assume was their's. There now is no low het on 620 so presumably they're back on
frequency. Still no het tonite when R.America 610 was in for a while. [Kazaross-IL]
XENK Mexico, DF. 17AUG02 0602Z w/clear "eh-kees ay en-neh kah" under KMKI music pause, another new

announcer[s] I couldn't pick up any IDs, and by 4:40 the channel was overtaken by XEGH..."Bonita..La Voz de

XEFB Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Jan 21 1208 - Poor with noticias, multiple mentions of Monterrey and slogan
'Noticiero Entrelines' as per IRCA Log. Brought outta the muck with phasing. This 50 KW blowtorch is directional.

+ Reviewed overnight recording on 630 from last night [1/25/02] and found XEFB all alone 0558-0604 CST with
nosign of usual KHOW/KJSL mix. Instrumental Mexican NA on at 0558 to mellow vocal mx 0601. Solid XEFB call
0604 in ID anncmt, "Musica mas romantica" slogan[?] and mention of "Radio México ". IRCA 7th ed Mexican log
indicates 24h news format. Sounds like it was signing on at 0600 CST with a "romantic" music format. Others

+ Jan 29 1130 - XEFB runs a beautiful Romantica program in the hours before dawn, for those Romantica fans in
the Deep Southwest. Especially nice this date from 1100-1200. [Bryant-OK]
+ 1/25 0558 [CST] alone on freq with Mex NA to mellow vocal mx, 0603 "Musica mas romantica" clear "F-B" to

+ 1205-1215 2/2. Man with string of local anmts & Monterrery weather, though no actual ID heard. At one point
they played about ten seconds of instrumental Andean music between two items - that really woke me up! Using
Quantum Phaser, was able to bring this up to about even with several stations of co-channel QRM. [Moore]
+ OCT 27 1602 Full ID taped at the Starr-Zapata County line, finally strong enough to overcome XEGH sidewash.
Like XEMN-600, words "Grupo Radio México" end full ID. Uses simple "F-B" audio logo between [or over] songs.

+ NOV 4 0350 - way atop KSJL etc. most of the time with romantica music, frequent mentions of program name
"Noche de Amor" and "Romantica seisenta y tres [63]" slogan. Full ID at 0400 didn't seem to mention location, but
did mention "mas romantica... mas noticias..." and "futbol," and "Grupo Radio México." Also said, "transmite vivo
para Ud." ... meaning what? They have live jocks instead of automation? ["We transmit live for you" is how I
translate that...]. The last IRCA Mexican log makes no mention of romantica [or any other kind of music] in their
format. Went to "La Hora Nacional" feed at 0400. John Callarman had noted their use of the "Grupo Radio México
" slogan during his recent Rio Grande Valley/Brownsville visit. [Stewart-MO]

XEHHI Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua. 0330 Sep 18 with vocal music; phone chat [dedication?] at 0333; ads at
0335, then ID at 0337 with call, slogan ["Radio Uno"], freq, and location as "Hidalgo, Chihuahua". Then back to
the phones after time [MDT] and temperature check. Fair signal in KFI null, but splatter from local KHOW-630.

XEJUA Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. DEC 23 0200. Canned ID by M: "Esta es XEJUA-AM transmitiendo en 640
kHz banda de amplitud modulada con cinco mil wats de potencia. Estudios y oficinas en Privada Agustin Lara No.
3, Zona 5, telefono 6-15-18-17 desde Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Super Estelar, una emisora de
Multimedios Estrella de Oro". Two things to note here: they announce 5000 watts, an increase over the 3000
watts listed in the IRCA Mexican Log, and the 1000 watts listed in 2002 WRTH. Also, the Numero 3 in the
address. WRTH has listed the same street but Numero 37 in last 2 editions. Might explain why I never received
replies to my reports and f/ups sent to No. 37. Fair signal, on top of the usually dominant XEHHI. [Wilkins-CO]
XENQ Tulancingo, Hidalgo. 1514 slogan "N-Q", ads, promos, "programa ROCK-OLA" , Spanish oldies from the
60's [all remakes of American oldies, i.e. TWIST & SHOUT, etc....] Nice signal with no sign of XETAM Ciudad
Victoria, probably OFF for routine maintenance on this SUNDAY AFTERNOON! [Wiseblood-TX1]

XETAM Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. OCT 25 1937+ This one gives "Fiesta Mexicana" slogan often, with both FM
[96.1] and AM frequencies, during music programming. I planned to get TOH ID tape on Sunday morning in
Brownsville but it was one of very, very few stations doing church programming, and gave no call letter IDs
between programs when I checked. [Callarman-TX1]
UNID 1746 11/4/01 - couldn't quite hear the slogan...It had the word "exito" or "exitos" in it, and ended w/ 6-40.
When I checked back for a ToH ID, it was gone. [Hawk]
XETNT Los Mochis, Sinaloa. 6/1 0608. Ad string, Man in Spanish with Mariachi music in the backround, mentions

UNID 1:30 Am CT 9/25 XE-sounding SS music battling about 40-60 with WSM at times in best null I could

+ Ciudad Acuña COAH OCT 27 Only an open carrier heard on this frequency while in Del Rio on a Sunday. I
wanted to clear up conflicting listings on 650 and 1600 here. No luck. [Callarman-TX1]

Zacatecas..." and several other states. Heard on the SuperRadio II. XE # 177 here, and the FIRST from
Aguascalientes! Actually heard throughout the previous hour with XE tunes and "La Consentida" tags. 660 is an
excellent frequency for XE's, but the problem here is threefold: [1] a local on 670 causes minor splatter; [2] KTNN
sometimes is practically unnullable; [3] a local buzzing noise at night permeates the lower part of the band.
Fortunately, the best way to minimize these problems is to point the loop due south or SSE, towards XE-land.

Coffeeville, KS. Their most common form of ID, though is '690 kilocyclos en AH EM-may, EM-may AH, La Madre
de Todas!' ['The Mother of Us All'] Their over-night and pre-dawn programming is a mixed bag of SS pops from
SS 'covers' of 50s EE rock tunes through romantica to nortena hits, mostly with short IDs as above. Their formal
ID states their [somewhat new] power as 50,000 watts twice. [Bryant-OK]

and steady, and in it's null an ostentatious talker that may have been Cuba. Nice, romantic duet identified at 0307
by the announcer talking over the end of the song as "A Compan~one" by Alicia Villareal and Pedro Fernandez. A
two-minute commercial string was sandwiched front and back by slightly different production ID tapes. On the
first, a female group sang "M-A," a deep voiced man said "La frecuencia correcta, seiscientos noventa kilohertz,"
and the female vocal group sang "La Madre de Todas." At the end of the commercial break, the female vocal
group sang "Esta M-A," the man said "La Madre de Todas," and the woman sang "La Madre de Todas." This led
me to believe that the slogan for this one listed in the 2001 WRTH, "La Madre de Todas," is correct. [It also led

XERG Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Jan 31 1200 - The 1200 'sign-on' period on 690 is a real circus here in the phase
null of KGGF. All-night talk station XEN, México D.F. plays a choral version of the National Anthemn followed by
about a 90 second canned 'sign-on' announcement interspersed with 7 cock crows. All night pop music station,
XEMA, Fresnillo, Zac., plays an instrumental version of the NA anthem AND, XERG [1200-0700], Monterrey, NL
also currently plays an instrumental version of the Anthem before signing on with call letters and slogans as 'La RG' and 'La Deportiva.' These three stations have been noted mixing in the early local evening hours, as well. All
three have put in fair to very good signals here at times. Hard to believe that these three powerful stations exist on

afterward until 1214, when M says "este anuncio ha sido patronizado por la Comision para los ninos y las familias
del condado de Kern, pagado por..."; also heard phone number 661-327-4711 which does, in fact, correspond to
Kern County, CA. During the next few minutes, several mentions of "La Voz Infantil," possibly a program name. At
1218, mx by Oaxacan trio, following a brief description of the selection. Not much heard after this, although I
thought I might have heard a "Radio Quin" [pronounced "Keen"] pop through. Checked the various XE radio
websites and this is still listed on 1290. Some sources say XEQIN, some say XEQUIN. As for the Kern County
item, must have been a syndicated program, since there are no CA stations on 730. The cultural/community
programming fits what XEQIN broadcast on 1290 - also, there is a significant Oaxacan element in BCN. My 1995
verie letter from XEQIN states "...atendemos a la poblaciion migrante indigena del estado de Oaxaca, la cual se
traslada a este valle agricola a trabajar". Ideas, anybody? Does not seem likely there would be 2 stations from the
same town with the same format and almost identical call letters. So, this may be ex-1290 and ex-XEQIN.

Mexican or the 760 from Columbia. I suppose if it was 760 from Mexico it would be XEABC? Whatever it was, it
must have a pattern change at 545 or so because it goes real fast. That would put it at Mexico City's time zone?

Formula" relay NOV. 11 0330-0445 off and on. The old man from Krum forgot that he had linked "La Unica"
slogan to XEIH back on April 11, and found that the slogan still belongs to the same station in November. Livesounding announcer with plenty of commercials and production slogan IDs from this one, as well as frequent
mentions of "La Unica" by the live announcer. Beware of the call letters in the ID ... The "I" is slurred, making it
sound like a three letter call, "Aykees-Ay-Yachee." XEIH plays lively Mexican pop music, XEFTA plays even more
lively ranchera type selections, and has previously unheard slogan, "La Big Juapa," with "Big" stretched out and
dramatized on the production ID, possibly inspired by Burger King's "The Big Whopper." My Spanish-English
dictionary does not contain the word "juapa," nor "guapa." It does show "guapo," translating it as "bully," but I
doubt the station is calling itself "the big, female bully." The station that is heard with frequently changing
interviews and other informational segments and on whom I had previously transcribed call as XEDS is actually
relaying XEDF-1500, with full ID including "Cadena Radio Uno," "Radio Formula" and 1500 khz, 50,000 watts and
México, Distrito Federal. I did not find a website that identified Radio Formula stations other than those in Mexico

UNID Tejano noted wee hours nights 9/00, IDing as "que-guapa" but no firm callsign noted. Nothing in the
increasingly-stale FCC database close to KGPA or anything similar. Seems Texican rather than XE. Doesn't
seem local, there's one in probable Dallas area with Music of Your Death format that dominates closer to

+ "La Unica" NOV 10 0236-0300 up and down wtih others. Amazed to find a single station atop this usually jumbled
frequency [KAAM's night pattern neglible here]. After song ended 0238, rapid-paced male announcer talked about
the music, then came quick production slogan, and rapid-paced announcer again. Production slogan appeared to
be: "Noveno Potosino [Noveno-different voice] La Unca." Signal dropped rapidly, but rapid-paced announcer back
up about 0253 and used "La Unica" name a couple of times. [The deep-voiced man on the canned ID left out the
middle syllable, "i".] At 0259:30, after two stations ran commercial strings, I heard an ID that frustrated me for all I
could dig out of it was "... XE[DS?] ... mil watts de potencia ... cuatro horas por dia ... Colonia Potanco[?] ..." y
nada mas. At 0309 I heard the local announcer mention "La Unica" again, but I'm not sure that it's the same
station as the one whose partial call I heard. Neither SCT, Cantu nor CIRT list anything in S.L.P. on 770. I

+ Mar 11 0300 - At exactly 0300, a male announcer arced up out of the jumble and gave a full legal ID as 'XESFT,
La Primera ....... [three or four words missed]... San Fernando, Tamaulipas.' There was no sign of the previously
reported 'Triple T' slogan. The XESFT call letters were very clear. I believe that these are the two stations that I
hear play the MNA every morning at 1200. One always begins at 1158, the other at 1200. Maybe the XEMF

way too weak to tell for sure WBBM dominant the rest of this recording period. 0804:15 XEMF call ID, caught
mention of Coahuila. 1006+ traces of a second SS station noted u/XEMF/WBBM. 1058:45 weak vocal MxNA
noted u/WBBM, then at 1104 traces of SS vocal music of a different style than XEMF had been playing all nite but
didn't sound "classical/operatic" to my ear. 1158-1207 only WBBM, no traces of the MxNA you mentioned John!

time. I recorded the signal on the road between Refugio and Kingsville, Texas and, with TOH ID on tape there, I
did not record this one later when I was in Laredo; so I'm not absolutely certain of "Úvale" name [I can't find that

gradually through the end of the NA, 0903Z a YL with what sounded like a sign on announcement: "Radio
[Hogar?] XEVA [...] Tabasco, México", announced "viente cinco mil watts de potencia" and heard mention of
"Paseo Usumacinta" in the announcement. The SCT site has XEVA with 25kw, most other sites/sources list 10kw,
so would assume 25kw is correct rather than the 10kw listed in the Mexican Log. This should be a nice target for
those Corazoners with overnite recording ability/interest with the odd time for a MxNA [0901 +/-] Tabasco logging

at 0406 to check back for IDs, and neither one produced anything like a call, slogan or QTH ID... my guesses are
XERPC Chihuahua and XEFE Nuevo Laredo, just 'cuz of their border locations. Either would be a new log for me.
This was on the Yaesu FRG-100/Quantum QX Pro. Checked the frequency again around 0600 UTC in bed on the

newscast or an all-news formatted station. I've never heard a Mexican here before and would be curious to know

"musica romantica/ranchera". "La DOBLE-D" 1020 SP man with announcements", ads, "La temperatura en
Montemorelos es 23 grados, ID, 1022 "saludos" greetings to the listeners, "La Grande del noreste de México, XE-D-D 800 de Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, con SONIDO ESTEREO." They mentioned that they are audible in
NUEVO LEON, COAHUILA, ZACATECAS & TAMAULIPAS! FIRST DAY ON THE AIR AT FULL POWER! Power
not mentioned but estimated to be 150kW. But depending on type of antenna configuration, its at LEAST 50kW.

800 XEGX Queretaro, Queretaro. 2030 CDT 9/12 end of Spanish taped religious program [from the U.S, faith healer
Dr. Richard H???.], then man anouncer in Spanish with slogan" Fiesta Mexicana", taped announcement with ID
by woman in Spanish, Mexican regional music/norteña/ranchera, each letter repeated twice in the call "X-X-E-EG-G-X-X" as if there were an echo!, power given as "5 mil watts de potencia", APPARENTLY ANOTHER POWER

800 XEZR Zaragoza, Coahuila. MAR 12 0205-0400, fairly good signal in almost complete XEROK null on new
frequency, from 850. Plays very lively music, neither norteña nor ranchera [I still havn't learned all I need to know
to approach Kevin Redding or David Gleason in musical knowledge] with frequent announcements by both man
and woman, apparently live, plus production ID. At 0401:30, I got good tape on the production ID by a male
announcer, transcribed thus: "Radio con frecuencia en aire [one word missing] ochocientos kioherz, dos mil wats
de poder, transmisiondes de Zaragosa, Coahuila, México, XEZ?, la [pramesa?] de Coahuila, localización
Zaragoza 505 Sur Alto, Apartado Postal 26-85-50, de Organización Radiofónica del Norte." The fourth letter in the
call on the production ID was slurred, sounded like "ekko", but an ad-libbed ID by the woman announcer at
0325:30 was clearly "XEZR." Street address coincides with XEZR's in Medios Publicitarios Mexicanas; WRTH
gives only an "Apartado 17" address. ORdN is licensee for XEZR. On MAR 11 at 0251, someone on this
frequency said "nueva frecuencia con mas potencia" but format appeared different [but this was a Sunday night].
Randy Stewart questions why a station would move from 850 onto XEROK's frequency, and the only reason I can
think of is that 2 kw. On 800 would have a better chance than 1 kw on 850 of getting into Piedras Negras/Eagle
Pass 35 miles away where XEIK runs 5 kw on 830. Zaragosa's population is less than 13,000; Piedras Negras' is

as "garble" but clear "Zaragosa, Coahuila, México" and "Organazicon Radiofonica del Norte". Thanks to John C.

[sic] Postal 26450, de Organizacion Radiofonica del Norte". Unabridged SS dictionary shows several meanings
for "traviesa," the most likely here being "lively". It could also mean "naughty"! The 26450 is actually the Codigo
Postal [Zip Code], not "Apartado Postal" [PO Box]. After ID, M ancr mentioned something about La Hora Nacional
and then repeated the studio address. I'm reasonably sure I copied it correctly. Into mx at 0403 and soon faded
under XEROK. I was hearing 3 SS stations on 800 and monitored for over 2 hours before XEZR cooperated with
an ID. Generally under XEROK; very rough copy in null of local KLDC; New here, XE #188. [Wilkins-CO]

I could not distinguish the fourth letter in the call, as it sounded like, in the mail announcer's voice, "echo". But
earlier in the tape, when the female announcer gave the call, it was clearly XEZR ... so this one has moved from

800 UNID 0503Z 05SEP02 noted a very weak instrumental MxNA under XEROK. I've also noted over the past few
months of recording overnite that a lot of the Mexican's I'm hearing have ID'd at :02 past the hour rather than at
the top of the hour, including XEROK R. Canon. Any other Corazoners noticing this? This must be a relatively
common practice or are the clocks in Mexico 2 minutes slow? [Winkelman-OK]
+ Nov. 11, 0519-0601 I was frustrated by a very strong signal in XEROK's null, best I've ever heard a second station
on this frequency. It played popular Latin tunes like "La Sierra Ciela," "Te Quiero" and "Amigo de la Luna," as
identified by the announcer, but played no commercials and gave no production IDs during the time I monitored
the frequency. The announcer gave the song titles and artists, time check and temperature between every other
song, segueing in packages of two songs. I was able to change the antenna setting to get distinctly different
programming from XEROK, with its usual music, jabber and production IDs, but at about 0558, my target station's
fade and the closing of XEROK's null blended so well, I didn't realize it had happened. Took good notes on
XEROK's announcement that the preceding program was "La Hora de Musca* Records" *phonetically, with a
Denver, Colo., address, apparently sponsoring the airing of its offerings. The record company's website was
given as www.muscarecords.com, and then came big production XEROK ID while faintly in the background was
heard a choral version of the Mexican National Anthem. Unless previously identified XEGX has again changed its
slogan [It was "Fiesta Mexicana" when I heard it last spring] and extended its hours past its previous 0500
sign/off, the mystery station wasn't XEGX. I did get a week slogan ID from presumably XEQT-Veracruz after
XEGX signed off last spring, but couldn't tell if this was the same station or not. [Callarman-TX]

revealing a couple of Spanish language stations bubbling away. Started Total Recorder "just in case" and at
0400Z out of the ether comes "eh-kees eh ah-cheh tay Radio Huamantla" by a woman, weak but clear. Followed
by more talk by the woman, a brief organ music bridge, then Spanish talk by what sounded like a very young girl
then faded down by 0402Z. One of only *two* stations in Tlaxcala state listed in Mexican Log! [Winkelman-OK]
810 XERI Reynosa, Tamaulipas. La Rey 8-10 AM, OCT 26 0012+ This station uses several different voices, male and
female, and mucho drums and electronic zaps between musical selections. Also drops in "Realmente Música"
name from time to time. One full ID taped at 2201 OCT 26 was very heavily echoed and double-voiced, with
"XERI" call letters imposed over other words, partly in English: "There's only one Ra-Ra-Radio station, Radio Rey,
Radio Rey, broadcasting from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Radio Rey." I had identified slogan as "La R-I" when I pulled

Mundial I have listed is 10kW HOG in Panama City... be a helluva catch if them! This is my first tryout of the

program name as '... Romantica.' Finally, an audible legal ID at 1231 and others at 1255 and 1326. There was
only one ad string during the entire 100 minutes. Tough copy all the way, but I finally nailed this one with help

Suspect the "Estudio W" was a program name. I was hoping to hear some classical music from XELA but nothing
heard all nite. 1200Z 02MAR had a weak choral MxNa and 1202Z 02MAR had an instrumental MxNA but both

immediately following the slogan. 1158Z 24MAR02 choral MxNA in progress as recording started, then at 1159
as the MxNA ended: "Esta es eh-kees eh ee tay eh, ah eh-meh, Estadio W, ocho trienta". Fred Cantu's website
shows 830 in Mexico City as XEITE with the slogan "Estadio W", the CIRT site shows 830 as XELA, the
tvradioworld site shows 830 in Mexico City still as XELA but with sports programming. The XELA website
www.xela.com.mx is still active and indicating classical music programs. So it would appear that 830 in Mexico
City is now XEITE ex-XELA, most likely with sports programming as I heard no music of any kind during any
recording period overnite, only Spanish talk. Reviewing my notes from my 02MAR02 overnite recording on 830, I
noted "EstadioW" in the 0600Z and 0700Z recording periods but no call letters heard. It would seem that this call
change has occurred quite recently. Dave Gleason, do you have any contacts in the Mexico City broadcasting
community that could shed light on this apparent call letter change? Would appreciate any Corazoners that can

several recent pre-dawns. The station runs almost Continuous commentarios as it peaks around 1230. Believe
I've heard 'AMO' or 'Amor' and did hear 'en Irapuato' several times during reception on 1/31. Also, multiple

XETAR Guachochi, Chihuahua. Feb 1 0100 - I noted this station in the phase null of WWL at 4:45 local time [1:10
before local sunset] Much of the time, signal was too poor to really copy. However, it peaked to clear audibility at

air. Very pleased to catch this daytimer. It should be possible for anyone in SW who can hear and null WWL by

between Ronnie Reagan on KARN and the Spanish news-talker from the Houston area. At times, there was a

25 as I started the trip at Krum. The only Mexican I'd previously identified from Krum on this frequency was

least one is domestic. Other domestics which tend to dominate the freq here are WONE from Ohio, WPGA Perry,

+ Feb 25 1246 - A very nice program of romantica has been floating up above normally dominant XET at about
1240 for the last few AMs. It was back down just before TOH, naturally. It was especially strong this AM and I
realized that the DJ was running a canned 'ROCKOLA!' at the close of each record.That's the slogan of XECL.
Sure enough. Good to excellent level later heard complete call ID. [Bryant-OK]
990 XEER Ciudad Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua. Feb 23 1301 - Noted MxNA at 1301, mixing with and under dominant
XET, Monterrey. Did a full legal ID after the 2-minute NA, but I missed all but the 'cinco mil watts.' More
announcements until 1305 when another ID rose above the muck '... XEER, Radio ... ... Chihuahua.' I had to
listen to the virtual tape several times through the Timewave to be absolutely sure. Very tough copy. It was
impossible to be certain, but I believe that XEER is running AN, at least on the weekend. They do play the MxNA
at about 0700 and 1300, even so. [Bryant-OK]

+ 10 0351-0530 Signals of several stations much stronger than usual, and I could usually get two different stations
at once, nulling one to hear the other... but they were all up and down and it was heard to keep a thread on each.
XEER, heard for the first time here, was dominant to the west with its somewhat informal program. There was
nothing I could tie to XEID this night. One station, dominant to the south, was in a primarily talk mode, with an oldsounding man speaking slowly with an occasional word from a woman. Another station on this frequency used a
variation of the six-note "Fight" fanfare we hear at ballparks, and at 0355 gave production announcement "...
setenta un anos... achi [soft fanfare] XE... ...." In and out, I got some good tape on XEER [though I inadvertantly
failed to tape the segment with a full ID] and at 0519 I found XET in a newscast with man and woman alternating
items and at the end of each, they gave a time check [on a 24-hour clock, e.g., "Veinte tres con diez-ocho, la
temperatura han diez y nueve" - centigrade, obviously] by man and a minute later, the woman gave "la
temperatura en Monterrey." It's the first time I've identified XET on it's night pattern here. One, maybe two, more
stations in the mix, and I'll keep trying on them. [Callarman-TX]

990 XET Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. La T Grande, OCT 25 2308+ I would like to see this station's directional antenna
pattern. While it puts a powerful signal into Krum before the night pattern change [or did until KCAF's return], it
was not a strong signal in many parts of the Rio Grande Valley during the weekend I was there. [Callarman-TX1]

the MxNA seemed to have some flute "flourishes" that I haven't noticed with any other version I've heard. Suspect
XEHZ-BCS, the only Mexican in the MST time zone. 0800-1000 20FEB02 had WNOX with ads and ABC news at
the TOH [new domestic log for me here in Tulsa]. 1101 20FEB02 had a very weak MxNA poking thru the jumble,
perhaps it was XEER-CHIH s/on before Mexican log's s/on of 1132? 1158 20FEB02 another very weak MxNA in
the mush 1258-1302 20FEB02 had weak SS talk by male but disappeared u/KWAM. [Winkelman-OK]
+ 0603Z 22FEB02 heard "Aqui...lobo... noventa" in a jumble, likely is XEER-CHIH as "R. Lobo" heard by Randy S.
and John C. [and others I'm sure] but a first timer here. 0700Z time frame all three nites had an instrumental
MxNA between 0701 and 0704, geographic proximity gives the edge to XEER-CHIH but I can't rule out XEHZBCS since both are MST and 0700 would be local midnite in both cities. Never have heard IDable detail before or
after the anthem that I can relate to it. John B., have you heard any detail around the anthem at 0700+? 08001100 periods have been a real jumble of usually 2 different SS stns [probably XEER/XET], and traces of WNOX,
KWAM and CBW with no dominant station. 1100 22FEB02 did bring a "La T Grande" and full X-E-T call.
Reviewed my 0900 recording from last nite but no sign of XET that John B. reported. 1200-1300 had MxNA in
progress at 1158 [when my recording started] all three mornings, best this AM [22FEB02], likely XET, and KWAM

classic baritone, would be helping XEFV celebrate an anniversary with a concert. This one is regular here, but

1010 XEHL Guadalajara, Jalisco. 0504Z 11MAR02 brought XEHL "La Poderosa diez diez A-M" fading up, the IRCA log
lists them in "San Juan de Ocotan" which I can't find on either Mexican map here but I do find an "Ocotlan" in
Jalisco on a highway map of Mexico. CIRT-Plus list has them in Guadalajara. Any Corazoners have insight on
this difference and what the correct location might be? 0600Z 11MAR02 had two choral MxNA's mixing, one
ended at 0601:30 revealing the other one that ended at 0602:15, SS noted very weakly after both ended but way

1010 XEKD Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila. La K de Oro, OCT 27 2123-2303, strong signal from Nuevo Laredo on into
Ciudad Acuña, has talky male DJ with lots of dedications and talks on telephone to listeners, who do not get on
the air. Strong enough to make me believe it was more than listed 500 watts. At 2303 full ID, said "Mil watts."
Interchangeably used "La K de Oro" or "XEKD" calls between songs. [Callarman-TX1]
1010 XELO Chihuahua, Chihuahua. Musica juvenil 0208-0216 11/7/01; synthesized "Lobo Latino" slogans, then
"conexion 4-11-15-15...energia y comunicacion"; 0217 ad for Gasolinera del Fresno on the Cuauhtemoc highway.

+ "Lobo Latino," NOV 10 0324 After heavy rock tune, I caught the same promo with teh 4-11-15-15 telephone
number and "Lobo Latino" slogan as signal was way up briefly. Continued up and down for the next hour or so as
I tuned in and out. I did not hear a call-letter ID. Another station, looping farther east, was also up and down, but I
couldn't get a handle on its ID. Probably "Diez-Diez-AM." [Callarman-TX]

recordings had XEVK with alot of "Vay Kah"'s and mentions of Gomez Palacio around the top of each hour.

XEVD Ciudad Allende, Coahuila. Feb 7 1201 - Thanks to Randy Stewart's tip, finally IDed this as new on 1050,
running 24 hours and using the slogan 'La Radio Viva.' Very difficult to separate this signal from the co-channel
XEG flamethrower. Peaks here in OK and MO around 0200 and 1200. Station appears to have moved from
previous frequency of 1380. [Bryant-OK]
+ 5 March. Rough copy with XEG and KTBL but XEVD was neck-and-neck at times with "Radio Viva" tags and RAN
tunes. A full ID was given at 0307 UTC, only partially readable: "...XEVD, ciento cincuenta AM... Norte...
Coahuila". The word[s] before "Coahuila" still doesn't sound like "Allende" to me, but hard to tell with such poor

XEVUC Ciudad Allende, Coahuila. La Super Estación, mil cincuenta AM, OCT 27 2138-2200, is definitely the
station here. The call letters are almost lost in heavily produced full ID at 2159, but "La Super Estación slogan is
generously used. The music is more subdued than XEG's ranchera and, of course, easily distinguishable from
XEQOO's disco-type sounds. XEVUC, formerly on 1520, is owned by same company that has XEVD-1380, that
had been identified on this frequency as "La Viva" and "La Vida." Wonder why this station, which announces "diez
mil watts" during full ID, was allowed to move here and cut into what must have been part of XEG's coverage

1130 XETOL Toluca, México. Radio Lobo, MAR 11 0209-0400 - Very strong and steady signal in wide KWKH null, well
over S9 with usual format with a variety of music separated by jingle "Once Treinta, Radio Lobo" set to different
styles of music. Short commercial strings began at 0225, 0248, and 0351 [I was off frequency at 0325] and, still
needing a full ID for my tape file, I decided to hang on until "La Hora Nacional" began at 0400. I was rewarded
with production ID repeated once: "Es la mas [fiera?], Radio Lobo, XETol ... todo el [baca?] de Toluca, con diez
mil wats, desde ... numero 300. Radio Lobo, once treinta amplitud modulada, en Grupo ACIR, lider nacional de
Radio." Similar to XETor on 670, "Tol" was one word instead of three letters. Oddly, the following night, I could get

1200 UNID frustrating, 0102-0203 Nov 8 with a low-key talk show, primarily a monologue, by an ad-libbing man.
Commercial string 0102-0106 and then the low-key talker began. I could not tell what the context of the
conversaion was. He did monologue until a second voice, possibly a studio guest, came on at 0109, and a
commercial break 0113:45 to 0115:40, back to ad lib monologue, another commercial string 0123-0125:50. More
monologue, then a vocal musical selection that started at 0l27:40 and Continued through 0130:30, when the
show's host talked with a woman guest. [I had to break for a phone call] and when I returned, at 0149, two men
were talking in Spanish and during this segment, there appeared to be an instrumental musical selection with
orchestra and a native-type flute carrying the dominant theme. By 0200:30, when another commercial string [and
presumably an ID] came on, WOAI's aperture had closed. There were times when the monologist was even with
nulled WOAI, and every once in awhile, it would be 80-20 ... but NOT DURING any of the commercial breaks.

recording had very weak SS talk around 0803Z. I *think* I heard an XE call ID in there. A short clip has been sent

that's it. I've reviewed the recording a number of times and I can't get "Radio Formula" out of it as Don Moore
described. Followed by choral MxNA at 0604, then seemed to disappear so suspect this was a s/off anncmt.
Puzzle: XEBD, also in Veracruz, uses the slogan "Radio Punto" but the call ID I heard is certainly XEVZ. I'll send
this sound clip for inclusion on the UNID page in the next day or two for some folks with more Spanish fluency to
check out. Then at 0606, up out of nowhere: "From the beautiful Rio Grande Valley of south Texas, you are
listening to KUBR 12-10 AM" into a long list of what I assume are affiliated or network stations, both AM and FM,
giving calls and frequencies very rapidly. KUBR is listed as SS:REL so this may have been one of the SS stations
heard but this announcement was in English. The 0700, 0800 and 0900 TOH recordings were uneventful but did
hear the same listing of stations from KUBR mixing in the jumble each period. [Winkelman-OK]

definite IDs noted around top of the hour [of course!], but at 0115 I heard a definite "Radio Centro" mention from
unneeded XEBD Jalapa, VER, followed almost immediately by a mention of "Radio Unica" popping up from
presumed KQTZ Tucson/Sahuarita AZ. Usual KGYN didn't seem to be there [or else actually running on their
legal night pattern for once!]... though they might have been running their occasional Spanish programming as
well. But I'd expect them to be stronger. Everything, including XEPUE, was best in USB to get away from

sounding jingle with time check over, then singers: "Radio Linares." Then came a musical theme and at 1600,
without ID, began a two-voice newscast called "Noti-Oro," "Multimedios Estrellas de Oro, communicaciones total,
presentó Noti-Oro." At 1605 had full ID, including address of studios and offices on Carretera Nacional kilometro

guy droning on and on and on, lots of Jesus [hay SOOS--can't add diacriticals in my email program at home], "la
palabra," "aleluia," and he seemed to be trying to set the record for consecutive uses of the phrase "el nombre de
Jesus"... he even said it in ENGLISH once, with a brief prayer and "in the name of Jesus, amen." Faded into the

1300 XESW Ciudad Madera, Chuhuahua. 1/16 0212 UTC. Was monitoring the Brownfield, TX station KKUB for a
reception report and noted a not-very-strong Spanish station QRM'ing them. I ignored the SS stn for the better
part of an hour, thinking it was usual pest XEP. Then after KKUB had faded for the umpteenth time, the SS faded
up with the popular XE pop song "Amandote," followed by an ID at 0215: "XESW, Radio Madera" by male, then
"Radio Madera" by "chipmunk" voice, then the guy again with "en el trece de...nueva...". Lite vocal music followed,
with the male announcer after each tune, largely unreadable due to poor signal strength. A new one here, XE
#181 and CHIH #38. Did not hear XEP until a weak ID at 0402 UTC. My old atlases show this town as either
"Est. Madera" or "Madera," so maybe the "Ciudad" appendage is relatively new. Don't know what the "Est."
stands for, either. Probably Estancia or Estacion. This burg is in NW Chihuahua, not too far from the border with

vocals by males with lots of accordions etc. One of them featured a couple of crazy-sounding announcers
interviewing people on what sounded like a remote broadcast, with a mention of "Radio Trece"; I think I may have
heard a "V-B" mention earlier as well, so this could well be XEVB Monterrey. I never could pull anything else out,
though, so I'm not counting it.... The other one was a domestic--at 0404 they ran a Spanglish ID using the Austin
Powers "Yeahh, baby!!" catchphrase, with "Tejano 1310, KZIP" [Amarillo]... though they're listed as DAYTIME

this. Heard with XE pop voclas; occasional soft-voiced M ancr. At 0152, heard what sounded like "Trece Veinte,
Radio Azteca Copa" & a few seconds later, the "Radio Azteca" again. Eventually lost to KXYZ, also Spanish, so
missed T-o-H ID. After a long fade, surfaced again at 0218 with with what sounded like "Somos K-C-L-I en el
trece veinte AM...la mas de la musica Copa". Fair/poor; call letters are phonetically close, so suspect KCLI based
on this and loop direction. Drat - was hoping for a new XE.... [Wilkins-CO]

type music, this Acuña station has gabby female DJ and rock. Heavy production full ID at 2300, but there's so
much noise, the words and the call letters are almost lost even when heard locally. On a graveyard frequency, it

1340 XEMT Matamoros, Tamaulipas. Mágia 13-40, OCT 26 1747-1808 Segues smooth jazz and romantic music,
occasionally dropping in singing ID "Mágia Trece Catorce," and occasional live announcer will also drop this new
slogan in. TOH ID does not use the "Mágia" slogan, but sings at the beginning and end of detailed ID, "Grupo
Promo Sat" [that spelling from printed ad, but it sounds like "Somo Zhay"] and gives frequency as "mil trescientos
cuarenta kilohertz," different from the construction used in the audio logo. [Callarman-TX1]
1340t XENV Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. JAN 10 1256 - TENTATIVE with song, "laser blast" sound effects, PSA, news and

1340 UNID Monitoring 1340 this morning, at 0602 PST [2/18], heard a few bars of the choral version of the Mexican NA,
loops toward AZ, so likely XEAA-Mexicali with 1kW, as it is the only Mexican in the Pacific time zone. A note to
the "timer guys": remember that these Mexican NA's have been heard as early as 3 minutes before the hour to 3

and XER-1260] The DJ sounded like a little girl, doing dedications, gabbing one-way on phone, giggling a lot,
between records and commercials. At 1549, there was a unique jingle – a male singer with accordion and guitar
accompaniment, folk-music style: "Anda la casa ven escuchar, esta stación tan popular. He es La Doña de la
Frontera, La XE-ZD." At 1601, had sounds of rounds of bullets before and after deep-voiced, echoed "XEZD."

XEGNK Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. Radio Mexicana, MAR 12 0150-0157. Trying to help John Bryant identify his
0200 sign-off on this frequency, I found faint traces of this one in graveyard conditions. There were only a few
words discernible but, contrary to the usual form, the words were significant. Part of a production announcement
squeezed through at 0153: "en Radio Mexicana." Then, after more undiscernible talk, a man in a very flat, nonannouncer-type voice began what appeared to be sign-off announcements. Careful monitoring of the tape
dragged out " ... final ... XEGNK ... 5 mil wats ... emisora ... muy buenos noches." At 0156:30, a female chorus
began to sing what may have been the Mexican National Anthem. The signal was too week to tell for sure, and a
Radio Fórmula station surged atop. Will try again, because 5 kw at 421 miles should do better than that. WRTH
lists sign-off at 0130; Medios Publicitarios Mexicanas lists it at 8 p.m. Central [0200]. [Callarman-TX]
+ OCT 27 1743-1749 "Es Radio de Verdad, Radio Mexicana, Trece-Setenta," long commercial string, "TreceSetenta, Radio Mexicana." Nice to get a good tape on this little station that squeazed through QRM in Krum at

+ is definitely in there ... after the production announcement from which "En Radio Mexicana" surged up, there is a
rather flat-voiced announcer giving what appears to be a sign-off announcement. I was definitely able to pick out
call "XEGNK" ... "final ... "con cinco mil wats" "emisora" ... and, the last words, "Muy buenos noches" ... The voice
was a bit higher pitched and sounded like what used to happen at some small radio stations where I used to work
when we let the chief engineer record something. What did appear to be a female dominated choral version of the
Mexican National Anthem began about 0155:30. The two long pips I heard just prior to "En Radio Mexicana" were
from some other station. What sounded phonetically like "Monterrey" to my naked ear was something said by the
XEGNK signer-offer and was phonetically similar but I could not discern what it was specifically. Whoever it was
that was relaying XERFR, it would have been grand to get that good a tape on a local ID. Dunno if it's XEMON or

XEMON Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. 03/18, nice sign on announcement after National Anthem at 0558. Snagged this
one via Timer using Total Recorder. I did hear another station with a NA during the sign on announcement but

UNID Here's another frequency [1370 kHz] with a Mexican NA. Heard last nite [2/18] at 0555 UTC, instrumental XE
NA under KXTL. I've never heard a Mexican on 1370 up this way and am wondering what the guys further south

ID that I would like to hear on 970 ... for XERFR-AM, Radio Fórmula, 970-AM Cadena Nacional. There are two
Radio Fórmula stations on this frequency, XEMON in Monterrey and XEHF in Nogales. The RF website [and
WRTH] say XEMON relays XEDF-1500; neither the website nor WRTH specify which of the three nets XEHF is

continual drumbeat in background. At 1500 on OCT 27, after listening to gabby female DJ, the TOH ID was given,
amid many production noises, by two female voices, with call, city, telephone and fax numbers, and again, the
phrase "Con Todo el Poder de la Radio." I did not hear anything that sounded like "La Grande" in either break.

as "Radio Imperativa," sometimes simply as "Imperativa 14-50." Oddly, while giving slogan, ID's frequency as
"catorce cincuenta" but in full ID uses odd construction "mil cuatro cincuenta." [Callarman-TX1]
1450 UNID 0600Z 15DEC02 instr MxNA coming thru the graveyard haze very nicely ending at 0602Z with nothing noted
in SS afterward except the jumble, recording in a vain attempt to log the WILM DX test. This is the second
graveyard frequency on which I've logged a Mexican anthem, the other was on 1490 in April, 2002. [WinkelmanOK]

1470 UNID While recording overnite on 1470, looking for the WLCR test [not heard, probably not on] heard a choral
MxNA at 0559Z 21OCT02 as well as at 1001Z 21OCT02. Both times the anthem was buried under the jumble on
frequency with no IDable details heard before or after the anthem. The Mexican anthem really cuts thru the
clutter. The 1001Z anthem could have been at a 5am local s/on. Ideas? XEAI and/or XEHI? [Winkelman-OK]

mix at 0359Z [2259 CDT] but nothing else surfaced. 0500Z 29APR02 [0000 CST 29APR02] TOH recording had
the same male voice heard at 0459 but this time he nibbled a bit more with "News Radio 14-90 ...[furball]". All
quiet until 0501:45Z when up came a choral Mexican National Anthem out of nowhere!! Had to "rewind" the trotline a couple of times to make sure I heard what I thought I heard. The MxNA was getting stronger as the
recording ended at 0502Z [of course!] Now... I never expected to hear the Mexican National Anthem on a
graveyard frequency and this one will probably never be ID'd here. KFON and KIBL in Texas both listed as SS in
the NRC log...I doubt a US station would play the Mexican Anthem but I suppose it's possible? XECH, 1kw, in
Toluca-MEX is listed in both the IRCA log and CIRT list with a 0500Z s/off. My best guess is XECH but Mexico
City to Tulsa on a domestic graveyard frequency?! Is this a great hobby or what? I'll set the trot-line on 1490 again

on 620.48 kHz when I heard them in 1997, and separable on USB, but with splatter from a local on 630. Only 4th
verie from TAMA. This is the 6th XE verie received here since November 1. I take back everything I said about

stations. The conditions were all favoring the south for the most part thanks to an M Class flare on Thursday 11/1.
Whats nice about this site is that its well within the 25 mile circle for reporting from home. I used a Kenwood R-1000
with about 400 feet of wire or a Signal Magnet 2 and a DX 398 with the Signal Magnet 2.
