PLACES WHERE YOU CAN EAT IN TARGU MURES
Targu Mures is not a big city but nor a small one it is appropriate. It is quite
developed and the population is almost 150.000 inhabitants. Also here you can find a
good educational offer in almost all the areas like Economic Sciences or Engineering or
Medicine. Actually there are a lot of foreign students and this is the reason why I made
this project.
Everybody know that students don’t have time to cook or don’t know how to cook
actually they don’t really have time for anything if they don’t want too. So they usualy
eat everywhere where is not expensive. Here you have a list with the places where you
can eat cheap or not so expensive for the one who is more demanding.
First I’ll start with some fast-foods because most of people like it. So in this town
you find El Greco.
I don’t know if you ever ate shaorma from El Greco but many people know that in
Mures when you say shaorma you actually say Greek. It’s already a brand. And I say that
it is the best shaorma that I ever eat in Romania.
They are open almost all the time: from 9 am at 5 am the next day and the best
thing is they have home delivery. If you are at work or at school you can order shaorma
between 9 am- 5 pm and you have to associate with someone or maybe you have big
appetite because you can only order over 20 lei (about 4.7 euro).
For the people that aren’t from Mures shaorma El Greco is situate in the middle of
the town next to the Cathedral.
You can buy four types of shaorma: pork, chicken, beef or vegetarian. The price
is 10 lei (about 2.3 euro) for a small shaorma or 15 (about 3.5 euro) lei for a big shaorma
but my advice is if you want to eat big shaorma you have to go before 5 pm.

Another fast-food where you can eat is Porcusorul Pofticios (Greedy Pig). About
the Piggy I can say that it’s ok if you want to eat something fast, typical fast-food and it’s
pretty good. It’s less expensive than KFC or McDonald’s but neither the quality is the
same. I know many people who eat often there and they didn’t have problems with their
stomach (for instance food poisoning). It’s a place where you eat when you don’t have
what or you are very hurry. It’s a place for students and not a place to bring your
girlfriend, it’s excluded.
The Piggy is situated next to the student’s dormitories at the bottom of one block
of flats. If you want to go there you can go to student’s dormitories and ask a student to
tell you where the Piggy is. The program is between 10 am and 12 am.
A sandwich costs about 7 lei (about 1.6 euro) and if you want salad, the price is
about 10 lei plus the bread and the sauce which you have to pay separate for.

This are the best fast-foods in the town but there are plenty of other fast-foods like
Big Papa which is situated in the middle of the town: str. Horea no.1, Piata Trandafirilor
no. 3 ( street Horea no. 1, Rose Market no. 3). Other fast-foods are Kebab street Bolyai
Farkas no.10, Panda Chicken street Rose Market no. 16 and the old fast-foods McDonald
street Rose Market no. 35 and KFC Mures Mall street Piata Victoriei no. 14 which are for
the people who are more demanding and who can pay more than 10 lei for a meal.
Now if you wanna have a big healthy meal you have to chose the restaurants or
the canteens where you can eat the day menu. The day menu contains soup, main course
and dessert. The tipes of soup or meat or deserts are chose by the restaurant. They made
the combinations and if you like it you buy it. For example a day menu can contain
lettuce soup, pork stew, and pancakes.
In my opinion a good restaurant where you can eat the day menu is called
Tempo- Laci Csarda. Every time that I was there I felt very good, the ambient was
delightful and about the food I have no words. It seems like they cook with their souls
and they have a big soul because the food is very tasty. For the day menu you have to pay
14.9 lei and you can eat it every day between 12 pm and 4 pm. My sincere advice is to go
there with your friends and have a good time. The address is street Morii no. 27.

The most popular restaurant is Leo, situated in the middle of the town and it’s a
popular warm friendly place for hurry people and for young people who want to have a
good time.
The day manu contains soup, main course, salad, bread and the price of it is 9.9
lei. They offer you four types of menu and you can chose and combinate as your wish.
The address is street Piata Trandafirilor no. 43 (Rose Market street) and you can enjoy
the day menu between 12 pm and 5 pm.
The canteen La Efendi or Canteen Sapientia is a restaurant where you can eat a
lot and tasty and cheap. They have two tipes of menu every day with meat or vegetarian.
You can combinate the menu, for example you can chose a soup without meat and the
main course with meat.
The day manu costs 10.5 lei and you get a big soup, main course, bread and the
dessert.
The menu is very varied , the food is very tasty but sometimes they put to much
salt in the soup. They give you a lot of food and i think that here is the best report
between quality, quantity and price.
The address is street Piata Trandafirilor no. 61 (Rose Market street) and you can
have it from 12 pm at 5 pm.
There are a lot of restauratnts or fast-foods or pizzerias in the town where you can
eat. You have only to be greedy or gourmand and to have some money.
I can give you one last tip. There is a site called www.zunzi.ro and is site where
you can find many sales on some things like food. You have to pay before with your
credit card and they give you a tiket which you can pay with. The sales changes after a
period of time and it can reach up to 75% sale. If I’m not wrong now in Mures you can
enjoy their promotion at City Pizzeria and with 5 lei you can eat a pizza that normaly
costs 17 lei. The site have no relation with the places you enjoy the sale I mean the food
is the same . There isn’t diference no matter you pay less. If you are interested you can
access the site because that don’t cost you anything.
