Play Dough Assignment

advertisement
Name:
This assignment requires that you partner with two other students (groups of three) to produce and
market a product. You are required to produce the following popular kids play dough. In addition, the
team must create an appealing and suitable container with label for the play dough. Appropriate
packaging for the container must also be designed. Please keep in mind that young kids are the target
market, and therefore your container/label and packaging should be designed with them in mind.
Here is a recipe. Feel free to use one you may have at home.
Play Dough Recipe
1 cup (250 mL) boiling water
½ cup (125 mL) salt
1 cup (250 mL) flour
1 tbsp. (15 mL) oil
1 tbsp. (15 mL) cream of tartar (a preservative)
Food colouring or kool-aid (colour and smell)
Boil the water, add the salt, and bring back to the boil. Remove from heat, add flour, oil, cream of tartar
and food colouring. When the mixture is cool enough to handle, knead until smooth.
In addition to creating your product you must develop a Marketing Mix Strategy to sell this play dough.
During your presentation of your Marketing Mix Strategy to the class you must include the following
information:
1. Product Description.
2. Price that you will sell your product at, including any package deals.
3. Promotion samples to help advertise and promote sales to kids.
4. Place(s) of where your play dough will be sold.
5. Consumer – A description of your target market (who your customer actually is).
6. Competition – Who are your direct and indirect competitors?
Your presentation should include a power point and/or poster board to convey the above information. Note
that all team members must participate in this presentation.
See the evaluation rubric that is attached for details.
Your team must be ready to present on:
