Quest Learning and Assessment Instructions – BC Calculus September 2014 Quest is a learning and assessment tool developed by the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas. Quest allows you to work on assignments anywhere and get immediate feedback when you submit answers online. OFF CAMPUS STUDENT ENROLLMENT – THAT’S YOU! – DO THIS NOW 1) Obtain a UT EID from http://www.utexas.edu/eid. Select “I need a UT EID” and then “Get a UT EID”.If you give the EID system bogus information, you may not be able to retrieve your EID nor the password in the future. If your email address changes, you need to return to this URL and correct it. 2) Log into http://quest.cns.utexas.edu/student. You will be sent to the EID system for your EID and password and then redirected back to the above link. Write your ID & password on this sheet and keep it in a safe place. Your email account will also have a record of the information. 3) If the redirection doesn't work, type in the URL again then click the arrow beside "Get Started" 4) Make sure that the "Hello" in the upper right-hand corner has your name. 5) Under the MY COURSES tab, choose "ENROLL IN NEW COURSE" 6) Enter the unique number “223” in the box and choose "LOOKUP COURSE INFO" 7) Use the pulldown menu and select the course “BC Calculus (Needham High School)” and click "REQUEST ENROLLMENT". GETTING STARTED - URL: http://quest.cns.utexas.edu/student/ To get started, from the above link click the arrow next to Get Started. After entering your UT EID you’ll see a screen with your list of courses, like the one here. ASSIGNMENTS To view your assignments for a given course, click on a course title. On the screen, you’ll see your list of assignments, the due dates, as well as your current scores (%) and the class average for each assignment. You should see your first assignment, Techniques of Differentiantion #1, already. Jkc 2010-2011 1 VIEWING AN ASSIGNMENT To view an assignment, click on the assignment name. (To view assignments you will need to be able to view PDF files. ) You can set the zoom level of the PDF file on the left as well as open and print the assignment if you wish. ANSWERS To submit answers to questions, find the question # in the My Answers table, select or fill in your answer and click on the Submit link. The Points earned columns will update to show the # of points you’ve earned and you’ll receive feedback on the correctness of your answer. You th may fix incorrect answers, at a cost. Decimal answers should be entered to the 6 decimal value and be within 1% of the correct answer. A small percentage of the questions have not been verified and may contain errors such as multiple correct answers or no right answer. Don’t worry about any individual question; skip it or take a chance and then move on. Answers for an entire assignment need not be entered all at once; you may submit individual answers and leave others for later without penalty. Jkc 2010-2011 2
