THE CROSS-CULTURAL FOUNDATION OF UGANDA VACANCIES FOR (1) A COMMUNICATIONS/ADVOCACY OFFICER AND (2) A ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT A. BACKGROUND The Cross-cultural Foundation of Uganda is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting culture as an essential dimension for equitable and sustainable development in our country. We have three main interlinked programme areas, through which we work to achieve our mission. They are ‘Culture in Development’ which involves research and documentation of cases that illustrate the value of culture in development work; ‘Promoting Cultural Heritage’ which involves supporting local initiatives to promote culture, heritage education and policy advocacy for heritage development and protection; and finally ‘Managing Diversity’ that aims at identifying civil society strategies to increase spaces for pluralism in Uganda. The Foundation deliberately maintains a small staff complement because we see ourselves as catalysts rather than implementers and as such most of our work is done in collaboration with partner organizations. Over the past six years, the Foundation has expanded the scope of its work and generated knowledge to illustrate the value of culture in development.
