Appointments
To make an appointment please ring 0151 733 7172 within normal surgery hours
• Our practice operates an appointment system for all surgeries and clinics.
• Medically urgent problems will be seen the same day but not necessarily by the doctor of your choice.
• Follow-up appointments should be made in advance as the number available each day is limited.
• Routine surgery appointments are for 10 minutes – if you think your medical condition will take longer or if
you have more than one problem, please ask for a longer appointment.
• If you cannot keep your appointment please let us know so your appointment can be offered to another
patient.
Telephone Advice
• It may be possible to save an appointment or a visit by speaking to a doctor or nurse over the telephone.
The receptionist will tell you when it is a good time to ring back or arrange for the doctor to call you back.
Home Visits
• If you are too ill or housebound please telephone the surgery before 10.30am whenever possible as this
helps us to plan our visits. Please give the receptionist as much information as possible, this will help the
doctor to decide how soon to visit. Please remember that it takes much longer to see you at home. We
can see several people at the surgery in the time it takes to drive to your home.
Disabled patients
• There is an access ramp at the main entrance and disabled toilet facility in the waiting area.

Test results
•
If you are sent for investigations by one of the clinicians it is advisable to contact the surgery
within two weeks for the results.
Prescriptions
• You can obtain a repeat prescription by using the tear- off computer copy from your last prescription. After
a specified number of repeats you will need to see the doctor to ensure that all is well before further
prescriptions are issued.
• Your prescription will be ready to collect after 48 hours (excluding weekends and half day Thursday
closing).
• Please enclose a stamped addressed envelope if requesting by post and allow enough time for posting.
• Prescription requests will only be taken over the telephone for very elderly or housebound patients.
Non NHS work for which a fee is charged
• Some of the work doctors are regularly asked to do is not covered by NHS and therefore we have to
charge fees for this work (i.e. insurance forms).
Complaints or Suggestions
• The practice manager is available to help with any non medical problems and receive any suggestions or
complaints regarding the service offered by the practice. For further details please ask reception staff.
• We are always happy to receive any comments or suggestions you may have to improve our service.
There is a box in reception for any suggestions you may have.
•
Practice Staff
• The practice employs a practice nurse, 1 practice manager, 1 senior receptionist, 3 receptionists, who are
all here to help you. When telephoning the practice the reception staff may ask several questions, our staff
have been trained to make these enquires so that we can deal with your call in the most appropriate way.
Patient confidentiality/Access to records
• We adhere to a strict protocol to keep all medical information confidential.
• A protecting privacy leaflet, containing more detailed information is available by asking at reception.
Registration
• If you live within the practice area you can register with one of our doctors. Please ask at reception for a
registration form which you will be asked to complete along with a health questionnaire. You will then be
offered a new patient medical before you can be registered.
• As we are family doctors we particularly welcome families to our practice.
