Authored and passed a bill reducing the property tax on all oilfield equipment from 8% to 2%, dropping to
0% in the next two years.
Assisted in writing and passing a Major Tax Simplification Bill for the oil industry reducing some 42 tax
categories to 9 and reducing taxes across the board for oil and gas companies in Montana competing with
other Rocky Mountain States.
Assisted in writing and passing a major tax stripper bill dropping taxes from 10.0% to 5.8% on wells
producing from 4 to 10 bbls/day and from 12.8% to 10.8% on wells producing 10-15 bbls/day.
Authored and passed a Stripper Tax Bill reducing stripper taxes from 12.8% to 5.8% on wells producing
less than 3 barrels per day, when the price of crude oil was over $50.00 per barrel.
Assisted in writing and passing another stripper tax bill dropping taxes from 12.76% to 6.26% on wells
producing less than 3 barrels per day.
