1. AM I ELIGIBLE TO TAKE DUAL CREDIT COURSES?
To enroll in dual credit courses you must meet the following criteria:
> Be enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade on the first day of the semester in which the course is offered.
This will apply to rising 11th and 12th graders during summer session.
> At least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at your high school and in good academic standing
at Prince George’s Community College.
> Minimum scores on at least one of the tests listed below.

Developmental (remedial) courses may not be taken for the Dual Enrollment program.

2. HOW DO I ENROLL?
>Students must demonstrate college readiness via placement tests (Accuplacer, Compass, ACT, SAT scores may be
used to determine readiness for college-level work)
> Schedule a meeting with your professional high school counselor, review requirements, select courses
> Complete the Dual Enrollment Form (signatures required)
> Submit a completed Dual Enrollment Form and Supplemental Documents to your professional
high school counselor

3. WHERE CAN I TAKE THE PLACEMENT TEST?
ALL Dual Enrollment PGCPS students enrolled at a county high school must take the Accuplacer at their high school.
4. WHAT IF I MISSED THE TESTING SESSION AND WANT TO RETAKE THE PLACEMENT TEST?
PGCPS Dual Enrollment students will be offered the opportunity to take the test again in Fall 2014 or Spring 2015,
at their high school. Students and parents will be notified when this date is scheduled.
5. WHAT IF I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH MY PLACEMENT TEST SCORES?
PGCPS Dual Enrollment students will be offered the opportunity to take the test again in Fall 2014 or Spring 2015,
at their high school. Students are notified by high school officials when these dates are available.
6. WHAT FEES AM I RESPONSIBLE TO PAY?
PGCPS will cover tuition costs for all eligible students. Applicable fees are the responsibility of the student
and family. PGCPS will also pay for fees and textbook expenses for students who qualify.
7. WHERE CAN I FIND THE APPLICATION/FORM FOR REGISTRATION?
PGCPS professional high school counselors have access to the registration form for Dual Enrollment. It must be signed
by the principal, parent/guardian and student, and collected by the professional school counselor. There is an
additional application process at the college.
8. TRANSPORTATION AND MEALS
Students and parents are responsible for transportation to and from the college campus. Meals are not provided
on campus, but food is available for purchase.
9. WHAT HAPPENS IF I FAIL OR WITHDRAW FROM A COURSE?
Students who receive a grade of “F” in a course, or withdraw from a course, may be responsible for 90% of tuition
paid ($50 per credit hour). Additionally, PGCPS will not cover the costs of tuition for additional or future courses. This
also impacts future college admissions and financial aid. All Dual Enrollment grades will appear on school
and college transcripts.
10. CAN I TAKE COURSES AT LOCATIONS OTHER THAN THE MAIN CAMPUS IN LARGO?
Yes. Students may take courses on the main campus in Largo or at Extension Centers.

11. HOMESCHOOLED STUDENTS
Students must enroll in a PGCPS school to take advantage of paid tuition through the Dual Enrollment Program.
12. WILL PGCPS PAY FOR MORE THAN ONE COURSE PER SEMESTER?
Yes.
13. WHICH COURSES CAN I TAKE FOR DUAL CREDIT?

14. CAN I TAKE NON-CREDIT, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COURSES?
Yes. Please see Dual Enrollment Course Listing for approved non-credit courses covered by PGCPS.
15. WILL DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSES BE COUNTED IN MY HIGH SCHOOL GRADE POINT AVERAGE?
Courses that serve as high school required graduation credits will have the grade applied to the cumulative
grade point average. Courses that do not meet graduation requirements will appear on the transcript,
but will not be part of the cumulative grade point average. All PGCC courses will appear on a college transcript
and will count in the PGCC cumulative GPA.
16. CAN HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS TAKE COLLEGE COURSES TO SATISFY GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS?
Yes, but the course will not apply to the calculation of salutatorian or valedictorian status.
17. CAN I TAKE COURSES IN NON-TRADITIONAL FORMATS?
PGCC offers Dual Enrollment courses using one or more of the following modalities:
> TRADITIONAL­– face-to-face in 5-to 15-week formats
> HYBRID – combines face-to-face and on-line, in 5-to 15-week format
> ONLINE – after a student has successfully earned 6 credits at PGCC with a GPA of 2.5
NOTE: No weekend or Honor designated courses.
