The Leaning Tower lab

Scientific Method Lab
Your goal in this lab is to work with your lab partner
and build the tallest tower that can support the weight of one
egg for 30 seconds.
Materials: each group is given only
1 meter of tape
1 meter of string
2 sheets of paper
1 hard boiled egg
Rules:
1.
The tower must be free-standing.
2.
Must be attached only to the top of the table (not to the wall, etc…).
3.
You can only use the materials listed above!!
4.
You will only have 30 minutes to complete your tower.
Steps:
1. You must first draw out a diagram of your
tower. This diagram serves as your hypothesis!
2. Build the tower as tall as possible. You may test and retest your tower. You may also rebuild
your tower as many times as you like.
3. At the end of the time you will be asked to place your egg on the top of the tower and you will
be timed for 30 seconds.
4. The winners will receive 10 bonus points on the lab!
5. When you are finished with the lab you must write a four paragraph (each paragraph must
have at least 5 sentences) essay on how you used the scientific method to complete this lab.
6. All the steps of the scientific method should be mentioned in the essay.
