CN TOWER By: Oscar Quiles Background Info • Cn Tower was the worlds tallest building from 1975 – 2007 • Opened to the public in June 26, 1976 • Cost $330 million to build Purpose • The tower was built as a large TV and radio communication platform to serve the Toronto area and also to demonstrate the strength of Canadian industry. Chief Architects John Andrews Webb Zachafa Math used • Calculus is used to maximize efficiency, minimize materials and cost while still making the building more stable. • Linear Algebra is used to design and analyze suspention systems and analyze electrical circuits. Still in existence? • The tower was ahead of its time back in 1975, now its not. It’s still in existence today in Toronto, Canada. Opinion / Extra Credit • I think the CN Tower is great just because it was the tallest tower in the world for 32 years. • Extra Credit: Château Frontenac is a hotel that was built to resemble renaissance-era castles .
