Ancient Egypt!
This term we will be delving into the history
of ancient civilisations as we explore the
world of the Ancient Egyptians over 5000
years ago.
We will learn about Ancient Egyptian family
life, rulers and education. We will study
wondrous artefacts throughout our learning.
Which will provide a great opportunity for
observational drawings!
English
Science
In Science we will be learning
about Life In Habitats.
We will be thinking about
questions such as:
What is a living organism?
What basic needs do humans
and animals have?
How can we work out what sort of habitat an
organism is likely to live in?
Do all animals eat the same things?
Can we predict which type of animals live in
particular habitats?
PE
PE will take place on Wednesdays.
It is essential that your child has the correct
school PE uniform for each session on a
Wednesday.
Swimming
We will be swimming every
Tuesday. Please ensure your
child brings a complete
swimming kit, including swim
suit, towel and swimming hat.
Trips
This half term we will be going on a trip to The
British Museum on Friday 5th December. We
will be exploring the Ancient Egyptian collection, getting close up to fascinating mummies,
furniture, jewels and burial goods which will
bring our learning to life!
We will also be enjoying
our annual trip whole school
trip to the pantomime this
term on Wednesday 3rd December to see
Mother Goose at The Hackney Empire.
I will be providing separate letters with
further information on these trips.
In Extended Writing this half-term, we will be
focussing on information texts. We will be
producing our own non-fiction
flap books about Ancient Egypt
as well as creating our own
‘Ancient Egyptian Travel Centre’
centre where we will persuade
other staff and children to visit
our favourite Ancient Egyptian
sites!
Maths
We will be continuing to use the Primary
Advantage maths scheme, which the children
have really enjoyed during the first
half term. We will be focusing on
fractions, decimals, data handling,
word problems and multiplication.
Class Assembly
Year 4’s Class Assembly will be on:
Friday 28th November
It would be great if you could come along and
find out about all the wonderful learning we’ve
been doing!
RE and Values
In RE we will be focussing on ’Jesus the Healer’
as we reflect on the miracles of Jesus.
In Values we will be following the ‘Mind Up’
programme which aims to foster social and
emotional awareness and promotes mindful
attention to oneself and others.
