Task1:
The graph below shows in percentage terms the changing patterns of domestic access to
modern technology in homes in the UK.
The graph gives information about the increase use of modern technology in homes in UK
between1996 and 2002. Generally there has been a steady rise in the usage of four modern
gadgets over a this 7-year period.
In 1996 the smallest percentage belonged to mobile phone access which waswith (BETTER than
WHICH WAS) just under 20%, while 60% of UK population had access to CD player.
Moreover, personal computer figure accounteds for about 30%.until 1998/1999 British nation
did not gain have access to the internet.
However, 10 out of 100 people started using this modern technology in that year and it grew
dramatically to over 40% over the next four years. Likewise, CD player access, cell phone and
home computer usage experienced a regular increase between 1998 and 2003, but the growth of
mobile phone access, almost 70%, was slightly more than other technologies.
It seems that the popularity of modern tools has increased between 1996 and 2003. Although CD
player access was not as much as other gadgets, it maintained its leading position. On the other
hand, the internet accessibility accounts for the least usage.
Task 2:
Research indicates that the characteristic we are born with have much more influence on
our personality and development than any experiences we may have in our life.
Which do you consider to be the major influence?
Recent researches have has shown that someone’s personality and development through his their
life time is much more affected by their intuition. In the other words, people owe their lives to
the characteristic they are born with rather than experiments from outside world. Although I do
not agree with this statement I accept it to some extent. In my opinion, the most important effect
is from experiments because people's future is more dependent on educating, living in an
appropriate area and being lucky.
Comment [Afarinesh1]: uncountable
Someone’s social position is directly relevant to his their education which would bring him them
good opportunities in his their life and occupation. Nobody is engineer or doctor by instinctively.
Although a person with inborn skills would be more successful in some fields such as art and
sport, without training and learning rules he would not be able to use them.
The second important factor in anyone’s life that makes forms his personality is his their social
environment. For example, a child who is born in the uUnited states would have much more
condition opportunities compared to a South African one. The former child, will have much
better quality of life, will would go to better school and will would have better health care. As a
result united statethe American children would be more civilized and would have a better
character in comparison to the second childlatter.
The last factor that can have an important influence on someone’s character and enhancement is
luck. There are many famous stories that illustrate someone’s success that have happened just by
chance. For instance, Christopher Columbus never knew he would become one of the most wellknown figures when he started his voyage just for an adventure. Therefore, Aa part of our life is
dependent on to our luck.
In summary, some skills and behaviors are innate undoubtedfully, but there are a lot of lots of
other abilities which can be acquired by training, having appropriate life living environment and
being a fortunate person.
Estimated Band Score:
6
Your Task I was much better than the other one. In task II, you have the problem with using
lexical resources. They are both simple and sometimes with errors. Your range of grammar
seems to be better than this; still you cannot show your abilities to write more complex
structures. The writing was good with coherence and some slight problems only exist with
cohesive devices.
