Dr. Sung Jun Kim Dr. Sung Jun Kim, Associate Professor of Music Composition and Recording Arts, has been teaching Piano, Composition and Recording techniques at Oakwood University since 2006. Previously faculty and chair at Northern Caribbean University music department he taught music theory and computer music, and directed the Chamber-Folk Choir. As a composer and pianist he presented his compositions and works at festivals in the US, South Korea, Taiwan and Colombia, and has been an active freelance musician producing sound tracks for vocals, videos and web broadcastings. Dr. Kim received his PH.D from Michigan State University in music composition concentrating on computer music and performing research on Taiwan Aboriginal music. He received MA from Andrews University and BA from Seoul National University where he served as leader of Electronic music society. He has participated in the University of Southern California (USC) Thornton School of Music ProTools for Music Educators session, Edgar Stanton Audio Recording Institute of Aspen Music School orchestra recording workshop, and Carig Anderson’s “Reason In the Real World” training course. He also participated piano tuning and repairing training in Toronto Canada, Microsoft Windows Server training in Atlanta, GA, International Composers Symposium, Taichung, Taiwan, and Seoul-Berlin Pan Music festival, Seoul, Korea, and has a diploma in microphone technology from Neumann / Sennheiser Company. His major teachers include Jere Hutcheson (Composition), Morris Taylor (Piano), Charles Hall (Composition), Charles Ruggiero (Computer Music-MIDI & Synthesizer) Suck-Hi Gang (Electronic Music), Thomas Haines (Orchestra Recording), Ron Streicher (Microphone Technology and opera recording), Wayne Chen (Piano Technology), and Richard Schmunk (ProTools).
