• Printing company founded in the 1950s. • Lawrence Herbert was hired in 1956. • He created a system to simplify the company's stock of pigments. • In 1962, he purchased the company's technological assets and renamed the company Pantone.
PantoneMatchingSystem
• The company sells Pantone guides, which contain cardboard sheets printed with color swatches and bound together as a fan. • The system is called the Pantone Matching System or PMS. These color fans allow graphic designers to match colors. The company recommends that the PMS Color guides be purchased annually.
