Dr. Andrew J. Loomis Visiting Fellow CNAS BIOGRAPHY Dr. Andrew J. Loomis is a Visiting Fellow at the Center for a New American Security, where he focuses on civil conflict, weak states, humanitarian intervention, and broad trends in geopolitical stability. Prior to his current position he has served as Senior Research Analyst at the Brookings Institution and has taught international relations and U.S. foreign policy at George Washington University, the College of William and Mary, and Georgetown University. From 1999-2003 he served as a program manager at Search for Common Ground, where he developed, implemented, and sought public and private support for programs to improve ethnic relations and U.S. policy in the Balkans. Loomis holds a Ph.D. in Government from Georgetown University, a Masters degree in International Affairs from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Juniata College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. www.cnas.org
