Application for award of the title of Visiting Fellow to a candidate
from a non-academic background
This form is to be used for applications for the award (including extension of an existing
award) of the title of Visiting Fellow to a candidate whose relevant background is primarily
non-academic e.g. from business, public or voluntary sectors. For general guidance see

Outline the involvement proposed with the University including duration requested
and how the post fits with School strategy generally. Word count guide: 100-250
words.
Provide details of any honorarium or office or other support facilities that are
proposed, including the source of any funds required. Note: Expenditure in excess of
10% of the maximum of the Lecturer salary scale would require the prior approval of
the Operations Committee.
Although the applicant does not have an academic background, explain how their
achievements show that they can be considered to be of at least equivalent calibre to
a lecturer in a broad sense.
