Multiple Intelligences
Use this guide to help your children explore
and learn in the exhibit and at home.
The Dora and Diego—Let’s Explore! exhibit is produced by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in
cooperation with Nickelodeon and is presented by the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation.
Like the Dora the Explorer television series, the exhibit is designed to help
children discover and use eight different intelligences (abilities) proposed
by Dr. Howard Gardner at Harvard University. These are verbal/linguistic,
logical/mathematical, musical/auditory, visual/spatial, bodily/kinesthetic,
naturalistic, interpersonal (social), and intrapersonal (self ). Every child
is unique, partly because each one has different ways of thinking and

Active Play
Dora and Diego are role models for active,
imaginative play and exploration. Children
need 60 minutes of active play every day.
Active play includes running, jumping, dancing, and other
physical activities that are fun for the entire family. Help
children get their whole bodies moving. Encourage them to
make up a dance or act like an animal! Slither, hop, flap, stomp, waddle,
and wiggle from head to toe! Play along for a good workout!
