They start the competition, and
on the first day 11 tributes die.
However both Katniss and Peeta
survive.
At the Capitol, Peeta reveals his love
for Katniss, and Katniss thinks that
this is done on purpose to get
sponsors for them in the competition.
Katniss ends up volunteering to
replace her 12 year old sister who
was the one chosen. Another boy
named Peeta is also chosen.
In the Nation of Panem, which
occupies North America, each 12 of
the districts are picking two people as
punishment to compete in the
Hunger Games. It is a competition of
life and death in a dangerous outdoor
arena.
A rule of this competition has changed.
Two tributes from the same district can
win the Hunger Games as a pair.
Katniss goes to find Peeta.
Katniss finds Peeta injured and
nurses him. However, the rules
change and they have to kill each
other to win.
Katniss and Peeta threaten suicide
by eating poisonous berries and so
they both become the winners of
the Hunger Games. Also, Peeta
finds out that Katniss was just
putting on a show about loving him
and Katniss is unsure of her
feelings herself.
-This takes place in a future time period after North America was
ruined, so it is now called the Nation, Panem.
Katniss is 16 years old. Peetaʼs family owns a bakery.
-Each of the 12 districts have their “speciality”. District 12, which is
Katniss and Peetaʼs district specializes in coal.
-They wore an outfit with fire at the ceremony in the Capitol and
therefore Katniss is known as the girl on fire.
-During the competition, Katniss teamed up with a girl called Rue.

something like bees. She was close to death there when she had
gotten supplies.
