I desired to find out more as the story unfolded. Never had a book shocked me to such an extent that I sometimes held my breath because of all those vivid descriptions! The rebellion against the Capitol, the people sacrificing for their beloved, the friendship between each other, and of course, the braveness of Katniss were what made it a cliffhanger. The story took place in a country consisting the Capitol and twelve districts. The former was a place where people lived in luxury while the latter meant a place of poverty and misery. People in different districts must not only supply the Capitol with whatever they need, but draw a male and a female tributes to join the hunger games held by the Capitol annually. However, in my opinion, the “games” were nothing but tragedies since the only way to return home safe and sound was to kill all the other competitors. Katniss and Peeta, who had just survived the last hunger game, were forced to get back to the arena again. I guess that’s because they refused to play by the rules, and the president of the Capitol, as well as the people in other districts, took it as an act of rebellion. Going back to the arena meant either Katniss or Peeta could stay alive, if they were lucky enough. I think it’s truly a catastrophe since Peeta, the boy who was desperately in love with Katniss, determined to save her even that meant his death. Little did he know that the last thing Katniss wanted to see was people sacrificing for her. They always drove me to tears while lying on the bed, with their hands holding each other tight just in case there’s no one to soothe them after waking up from a nightmare. Things turned from bad to worse since uprisings staged one after another in different districts, in which people regarded Katniss as a symbol of resistance. Nevertheless, against all odds, it’s her bravery, determination, and the sense of justice that turned the tide. This fast-paced book never bored me a second while I was reading it. Suzanne Collions skillfully wove the love and trust between people and the dark side of human nature together. In addition, through her impressive depictions, every scene seemed to be so true that I could sometimes hear them scream while suffering, or even felt monsters were likely to jump out of the book and took my life! The monstrous creatures generated by the Capitol has once haunted me in my dream, and since then, I guess I kind of realize how dreadful it was being caged in the arena. The situation Katniss faced was so tough that I thought there’s little chance for her to narrowly escape from death. However, deep in my mind, I knew she would somehow manage it. Katniss was much more than an imaginary figure. It’s she that taught me no matter how terrible the situation would be, we should overcome the difficulties instead of escaping. To me, she’s not only a mentor but an adorable girl who will always live in my mind. Catching Fire is absolutely a masterpiece which I’m sure worth reading. I believe it’s not merely a fascinating story, but an inspiration to every reader as well. If you tend to shrink back whenever there’s a challenge, this is what you need. Open the book, and Katniss will teach you how to fight against all odds. 角色 Character 形容詞 Adjective Katniss adorable 單字 Word 出現頁數 Page bewilderment 21 duplicitous 51 spontaneously 257 camouflage 357 incapacitated 371 句子 Sentence 頁數 Page “I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, 245 right now, and live in it forever,” he says. “I’m not going anywhere.
