The Early Childhood Partnership of Mat-Su is a Best Beginnings group focused on serving young children and their families. The focus is on engaging families and involving them in young children’s learning. In addition to providing resources, they host several activities at low or no cost to families of young children each year. Check out their website: www.matsufamilies.org An Alaskan Preschool Project The Importance of Preschool Research has consistently shown that children who attend a high quality preschool program are not only more successful in school, but have lifelong advantages. They are more likely to graduate from high school, to be employed, and less likely to depend on public assistance. Widening the Net Preschool Project The Widening the Net Preschool Project is designed to provide additional preschool opportunities in the Mat-Su Valley for four year old children, focusing on Kindergarten readiness. To insure that we are assisting as many children as possible using Widening the Net and our local Head Start program please call 7454040 to determine which preschool program is best suited for your family. Children learn through experiences and play, and the social emotional development is just as important (or even more!) than the exposure to academics. A typical day might include an opening, play time, healthy snacks, circle time, fine and gross motor activities, centers (blocks, dramatic play) and arts and crafts projects relating to the thematic unit.
