together, just like music, religion and social

still trying to discover what it means. I like to
think that I make music that is passionate,
conscious, caring and endearing…so I
definitely try to embody all of that in the
music I put out.”
Out of his genuine concern for the community
and youth, Raheem founded The LoveLife

QUEEN
FOR A DAY
Raheem, the LoveLife Foundation, eOne, Radio One and
Maisie Dunbar Salon hosted the 1st ever "Queen for a Day"
Event this past February. This event, marked the first of
many for Raheem and the LoveLife Foundation, dedicated to
recognizing and restoring Women that are Domestic Violence
and Trauma Survivors. The goal of this event was to assist
these dynamic ladies in reclaiming their self-esteem and selfempowerment, with services that they ordinarily would not
be able to afford while transitioning.
The 3-part Web Series is now up online on the following
Radio One websites listed below chronicling our beautiful
event designed to honor 25 Women that are Domestic
Violence Survivors, as we treated them to a well-deserved
day of servicing with Manicures, Mini Massages and Make-up
Makeovers (courtesy of Maisie Dunbar Spa Lounge), Hair
Services, Products and Gift Bags (courtesy of African Pride),
Lunch (provided by KitchenCray DC), Styling Tips (from Hush
Boutique's Own Tamara "Hush" Lee), Survivor Support from
Lyn Twyman of wearelasers.org and a Special Musical
Performance by #TheLoveKing himself, Raheem.

2015 COLLEGE TEXTBOOK
SCHOLARSHIP
~
ESSAY CONTEST
With the national average cost of books and
supplies for the average college student
hovering around $1, 100 per year
(considered as two semesters), Raheem and
the Foundation wanted to get a few
exceptional students off to a great start in the
Fall of 2015/Winter 2016
In May 2015, the LoveLife Foundation
launched it’s first Scholarship Essay Contest
for "Raheem DeVaughn Day" (on his Birthday
– May 5th) with 93.9FM-WKYS' Angie Ang.
In honor of, and as proclamated by the City of
DC in 2011, Raheem and The LoveLife
Foundation wanted to celebrate this day and
ease the minds of three college-bound
students and cover the cost of their books
and supplies for their first year in college and
awarded them $2,000 for college textbooks
and supplies, for their outstanding essay
writing. One student each from the D-M-V
(DC, Maryland and Virginia) and a
Valedictorian from the Options Public
Charter High School (which was forced to
close it’s doors, after this year’s graduating
class), were this year’s recipients.
ESSENCE
FESTIVAL
The LoveLife Foundation hosted a booth during
the 20th (2014) and 21st Annual Essence Music
Festival (EMF) Community Corner, at the Ernest
N. Morial Convention Center, Friday, July 3 –
Sunday, July 5, 2015.
The Community Corner has been a core
element of the EMF community initiative
programming for years. The EMF Community
Corner allows The LoveLife Foundation the
opportunity to share its message, raise
awareness and garner support with their
thousands of daily convention center attendees.
In addition to our Essence Festival
attendance and as an extension of our “Queen
for a Day” Campaign on the heels of the 10th
anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Raheem
wanted to positively impact New Orleanians, as
we hosted our 1st National Event. With the
foundation’s goal of assisting women in
reclaiming their self-esteem, this event honored
the women of New Orleans and survivors by
providing them with services that they would
not ordinarily be able to afford during an
otherwise difficult transition period we catered
to who are domestic violence and trauma
survivors, treating them to a well-deserved
day of pampering.
Thus, in recognition for Raheem and the
Foundation’s efforts, we were acknowledged
by Mayor Landrieu of the City of New
Orleans, as well as, Congressman Cedric L.
Richmond for our charity work in the area of
Domestic Violence in the City of New Orleans
and State of Louisiana!
L VELIFE
CHARITY

Reception & Silent Auction, and of course,
late evening fundraising events. Last
year’s event was sponsored by
Hennessy USA, Pepsi and The Park at

DC OR NOTHING
(TURKEY DRIVE)
With the loss of several area Food Banks
and Food Services for families in need,
Raheem DeVaughn and the LoveLife
Foundation will kick off the 3rd Annual
Community Turkey Give-away 2015
with the delivery of over 200 Turkeys to
Washington, DC Families and local Ward
8 Residents.
Thus, during this harsh economy, Raheem
and the LoveLife Foundation are honored
to be able to give back to the community
and support those selected families that
have been impacted particularly hard
during this time of year, by providing free
Turkeys for the 2014 Holiday.
Hosted by 3-Time Grammy Award
Nominee Raheem DeVaughn, Social
Activist Tony Lewis, Jr,. and others, Guests
will include District of Columbia elected
officials from The Mayor’s Office, City
Council’s Office, Local and Nationally
recognized Celebrities and Athletes, as
well as, Local Radio/TV and Press.
3RD ANNUAL
RAHEEM &
FRIENDS
HOLIDAY SHOW
Hosted by 3-Time Grammy Award Nominee
Raheem DeVaughn, guests will include
District of Columbia elected officials from The
Mayor’s Office, City Council’s Office, Local and
Nationally recognized Celebrities and
Athletes, as well as, Local Radio/TV and
Press. At the 2nd Annual show, music fans
were delighted to see and hear Kenny
Lattimore, Doug E. Fresh, Bobby
Valentino, Vivian Green, Anthony David,
Algebra Blessett, Vashon Mitchell and
former Def Jam Artist Case. All of these
artists brought their R&B, hip hop, gospel and
go-go flavors to the Howard Theatre for a
night that no one wanted to end.
Immediately preceding the event, a Red
Carpet & Pre-Concert Meet-n-Greet
Reception will be held. Without the support
of Sponsors, Raheem’s Celebrity peers, local
and small businesses, Raheem and the
LoveLife Foundation would not be able to
achieve its established goals. This cocktail
style preceding the concert gives the event
host, Raheem and his celebrity guests the
opportunity to recognize and honor financial
and in-kind contributions made by the local
businesses and corporate communities. This
is an invitation-only event with 100-150
guests.
