After which he rushed to the kitchen and ate the egg sandwich and drank the milo tea his mother, Latoya, prepared. “Lata Mummy,” he shouted as he saw himself through the crooked front door. “Memba you fada supposed to pick you up afta training,” she reminded him in her soft coarse voice. “Yeah!” Jason, Raheem’s father, was a tall skinny, bald-headed man who worked as an electrician, always left out early for work. Raheem who had now arrived at school after taking a taxi was happy to see his friends. They sat at the endz and told each other how they spent their holiday. “Bling! Bling! Bling!” the school bell sounded. The boys quickly rushed to their respective classes. Raheem who had chemistry, had to rush to the other end of the campus. All six of his classes went as smooth as silk and school was now over. He quickly ran to the changing room and changed into his training clothes. He got on the track where he got his training program from his coach, Mr. Pow his coach. He then followed the program and jogged for 30 minutes. He then rested and went again. After training he patiently waited for his father. While waiting he went through some of his notes wrote down from class. After spotting his father’s old grey Nissan he quickly packed. “Afternoon daddy,” he said upon entering the car. “Yeah mon, how was school and training,” “They were alright,” Raheem responded. After arriving home, Raheem quickly had a bath and ate his scrumptious dinner his mother prepared. He then went to his room where he called his friends and watched a movie. After which he completed his assignments and studied. His study continued until his phone sounded an alarm telling him it was time to go to bed. Raheem then packed up his books and laptop and did a few exercises; then prayed and went to bed. This cycle continued up until the middle of the term when he realized his study time minimizing and he had too many incomplete assignments. This was due to him being too tired after his training sessions which got longer and harder over the few weeks. Raheem became overwhelmed as he tried to complete one of his assignments realizing he did not quite understand the topic. He spoke to his parents who asked if he wanted to break from track and field until he has completed most if not all his incomplete assignments and caught up on some study. Raheem nodded in agreement. After a few weeks of hard, nonstop work Raheem had finally caught up on his incomplete assignments and studies.
