Hillbarn Theatre to present Peter Shafer’s Tony Awardwinning masterpiece, Amadeus
▪ January 22 – February 5, 2015 ▪
Single tickets available now!
FOSTER CITY, CALIFORNIA (December 23, 2014) – Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier community
theatre company, follows up on the success of their critically acclaimed 2014 fall season with Peter
Shafer’s award-winning drama, Amadeus. This enthralling work weaves an argument between
mediocrity and genius into a tale of spectacular dramatic power featuring music, murder and Mozart.
Antonio Salieri is the established composer in the
court of Austrian Emperor Joseph II. Salieri has
given himself to God so that he might realize his
sole ambition to be a great composer. But when
the greatest musical genius of all time, Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart, enters, Salieri is confronted with
that which is beyond his envious grasp: Genius.
The winner of seven Tony Awards – including Best
Play – and the Academy Award for Best Picture,
Amadeus has been described by the New York Post
as, “A total iridescent triumph...of complexity of thought, emotion and dramatic power.” Amadeus will
run January 22 – February 5, 2015 at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City).
Performances are Thursdays—Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Press night for Amadeus will
be held on Friday, January 23, 2015. Single tickets range in price from $23 - $42 and are available now by
calling 650.349.6411 ext. 2 or visiting www.hillbarntheatre.org.
Says Hillbarn Theatre Executive Artistic Director Dan Demers: “I chose Amadeus to open our ‘part 2’ of
the ‘Season of Awakening’ because Peter Shafer’s award-winning play breathes an immensely creative
spirit into our season. With the New Year comes new beginnings and life, and what better way to
personify that than with the breathtaking story of Mozart and Salieri in this incredible dramatic work."
Hillbarn Theatre’s production of Amadeus features a cast of 12 actors led by Jerry Lloyd as Salieri, Ross
Neuenfeldt as Mozart, and Lauren Rhodes as Mozart’s wife Constanze. Joining them are Jennifer
Ellington, Jessamy Collier, LeighAnn Cannon, Ray D’Ambrosio, Robert Fairless, Ron Lopez, Jr., Scott
Stanley, Steven Anthony, and Tom Bleecker.
The creative team for Amadeus, led by director Leslie Lloyd , includes scenic designer Kuo-Hao Lo,
costume designer Lisa Claybaugh, dialect coach Kimily Conkle , hair, wig, and makeup designer Dee
Morrissey, stage manager Felice Ana Denia, master carpenter Steve Nyberg, and properties designer
A.J. Diggins.
Hillbarn Theatre would like to acknowledge its 2014–15 company sponsors: Foster City Islander,
Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, Peninsula Beauty and Penelope’s Coffee & Tea.
Hillbarn Theatre’s 2014-15 season, “A Season of Awakening,” continues with the acclaimed drama,
Proof (March 12 – 29, 2015) and the hit Kander and Ebb musical, Curtains (May 7 – 31, 2015). Partial
