November December 2009 Volume 5 Issue 6 Happy Holidays! MYSTIC BREW If the names of the coffee blends themselves aren’t evocative enough to pique your imagination, the story behind the coffee is. Midnight Vigils Blend, Fair Trade Organic Guatemalan, Royal Rum Pecan and Hermits’ Bold Blend are just a few of many different coffees offered by Mystic Monk Coffee. Mystic Monk Coffee is roasted by the Carmelite Monks, a Roman Catholic monastery located in the silence and solitude of the Rocky Mountains of northern Wyoming. The monks live a hidden life of prayer and contemplation in their pursuit of God. The business was started in June 2007. “It was established to support our monastery and provide us with manual labor, an important SDUWRIDPRQN¶VOLIH´FODUL¿HG Brother Paul Marie. 7KHPLGGOHRIWKH¿IWHHQWKFHQtury dates the earliest credible Whenever a new roast is developed, the monks sit down and carefully taste the coffee to work out what adjustments are needed prior to debuting it on their website. evidence of coffee tree cultivation or coffee drinking, and can EHWUDFHGWRWKH6X¿PRQDVWHULHV of the Yemen in southern Arabia. GET A PIC FREEZE Did you know your long distance carrier could be changed without your authorization? You wouldn’t even know… Until you got the bill, that is. The Federal Communications Commission, or FCC, requires communication companies such as Nemont to process all requests from long distance providers. While that sounds abstract, the process is very straight forward. Here are some examples: 1. A telemarketer calls you right before supper and wants to ask three questions. Although it may not be clear they want you to switch your long distance, that is the goal. Many times people are not clear on what has been agreed to. The person you spoke to on the phone assured you they would take care of all the paperwork. When Nemont receives the request to change your long distance carrier, we are required to do it, no questions asked. 2. You receive a check in the mail from X Brand Long Distance. What an unexpected bonus! You deposit it the next day. The fine print advised you that cashing the check gave X Brand Long Distance permission to be your long distance carrier. When Nemont receives the request to change your long distance carrier, we are required by the FCC to change it. To make sure you keep the company you selected for your long distance carrier, Nemont encourages all landline telephone customers to add a PIC Freeze to their accounts. A PIC Freeze is a document signed by you that specifically directs Nemont to change your long distance carrier only when you notify us directly. There is no charge for this service. A PIC Freeze can be added to your account with one of the following methods: 9LVLWRXUZHEVLWHDWKWWS ZZZQHPRQWQHWSLFIUHH]HSKS 7HDURXWDQGUHWXUQWKH3,& Freeze form located in the front pages of your Nemont Directory. &DOORUVWRSE\\RXUORFDO Nemont office to request a PIC Freeze form. Tune in to KUMV-TV on Sunday, December 6, for Williston’s annual “Action Auction.” Sponsored by Williston Rotary Club and area businesses, the event is one of the largest fundraisers in the area, and is the single largest fundraiser for the Williston Rotary Club. “Rotary is a service organization that donates time and money to local, national and international causes,” clarified club president Joel Swanson, “such as college scholarships, special projects in our K-12 schools, the Salvation Army, the Miss North Dakota Pageant, God’s Child Project and others.” From 1-4 p.m., auction items will be displayed on television and described by Rotary Club members. A list of auction items is not available yet, but Christmas shoppers can look forward to bidding on tools, clothing, food certificates, some great gift ideas and more. A complete list will be published in the Williston Herald and The Shopper on December 3. People bid by calling in on a special “Auction Line,” donated by Nemont. The item goes to the person with the highest bid at the end of a specified time period. Rotary Club members answer the phones for the duration of the auction. If you are interested in making your Christmas shopping dollars go to a good cause, tune in to KUMV-TV on December 6 for the Rotary “Action Auction.” Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Williston Rotary Club is invited to contact club president Joel Swanson at 572-5371 or come to a weekly meeting, Monday at noon at the El Rancho. NEMONT OPEN HOUSE AND EVERYDAY ITEMS DRIVE Nemont and Community Action Partnership (CAP) are pairing up this holiday season to bring basic necessities to those in need. While there are a number of food drives every year, non-consumables are often left off the wish list. Items such as hand soap, toothpaste, and laundry detergent can not be purchased through Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (also known as the food stamp program). “There are so many people struggling to make their rent and other obligations,” commented CAP employee Deeann Long. “These basic items are things we take for granted but are out of reach for many of the people we aim to help.” From December 14 through December 18, stop by the Nemont office at 421 Main in Williston. For every item you donate from the EveryDay Items wish list, you can register to win a red Canon Powershot Digital camera, just in time for Christmas! The Nemont crew will have fresh hot cider, coffee and an assortment of holiday baked treats for you to sample, as well. The wish list is shown, at left. A complete list can be picked up at the office and will also be published in the Williston Herald and viewed on our website at www.nemont.net. www.nemont.net 3 Nemont Today VOLUME 5, ISSUE 6 December 3-7 Entertainment Inc! presents “A Christmas Story.” This timeless tale consists of a series of hysterical vignettes anybody born in small town America can identify with. 577-3179.
