Spanish 4 Graded Course of Study
Unit 1 (Lección 1): Sentir y vivir (Feeling & Living)
Objectives: Las relaciones personales (personal relationships) – Investingating and learning to
communicate about characteristics of personality, inter-personal relationships. civil states and reality
versus our filtered version of reality.
Grammar: The present tense: irregular “yo” forms, stem-changers, -ar/-er/ir verbs. Ser versus estar:
uses of both ser and estar, comparing and contrasting the usages of these verbs, and using these verbs
with adjectives. Gustar and gustar-like verb: discussing the patterns of these verbs, using IOP’s with
them.

Objectives: En la ciudad (in the city) -Talking about city life in comparison to life in the suburbs or
the country, talking about the activities that are available in a city, and the people that live in the city,
giving directions, and discussing locations in a city.
Grammar: The preterite tense: irregulars; the imperfect tense: irregulars; the preterite tense versus the
imperfect tense
