ATI: TEST OF ESSENTIAL ACADEMIC SKILLS (TEAS)

INFORMATION SHEET

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a scholastic aptitude assessment that is used as one component of the selection process for admitting students into the nursing program.

The TEAS consists of four (timed) content areas: Reading,

Math, Science, and English. All subtests contain multiple-choice items with one correct answer. The applicant is directed to answer each item as accurately as possible within the allotted time. The reporting system for the TEAS includes a composite score for each of the four general areas.

Reading: (58 min) paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions

Math: (51 min) whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions and decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportions and graphs **No calculators permitted**

Science: (66 min) basic aspects of earth, physical, and biological sciences

English: (34 min) measures knowledge of punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling

Students with disabilities who are eligible for testing accommodations are responsible for coordinating their accommodations with the School of Nursing & the Office of

Disability Services. Some specific accommodations may not apply, as determined by the TEAS test guidelines. Call the office of Disability Services at (567) 661-7007 prior to scheduling your

TEAS appointment.

WHERE/WHEN CAN YOU TAKE THE TEAS?

ATI Testing can be done at either the Findlay-area or the

Toledo-area Campus Testing Centers. Call for more details and to schedule your appointment.

THE DAY OF TESTING

• Bring a valid picture ID

• Bring a credit/debit card - There is a fee, which is paid on the ATI website the day you come to test

• The Testing Center provides scratch paper

UNDERSTANDING THE RESULTS

Students receive a print out of the results once they have completed the TEAS. The scores are then reviewed by the

Selective Health Committee.

REGISTER

To become a registered member visit the ATI website (www.

atitesting.com). Under the username and password box click

Create an Account.

You may be required to download Silverlight.

For the Student ID use your Owens College ID Number.

When selecting your Institution, make sure you select the right campus. It will be one of the four that are listed below:

• Owens CC Findlay PN

• Owens CC Findlay ADN

• Owens CC Toledo PN

• Owens CC Toledo ADN

PN stands for LPN or Licensed Practical Nurse.

ADN stands for RN or Registered Nurse or LPN to RN Students

*If student has ATI account from previous school, he/she can contact ATI at 1-800-667-7531 for assistance using existing account for Owens.
