base price for *8- Week Classes will be $20. Required supply fees are listed with
each class description.

12 Week Classes

cardio. With constantly varied activity we will increase strength, flexibility,

Hap-Ki-Do (modified) Beginner - Mr. Michael W. Wright

Mr. Wright is a Sa-Joo-Nim (6th degree) black belt in modified Hap-ki-do. He has
been instructing martial arts for over 7 years. Students will learn basic Hap-ki-do
techniques from White Belt to Yellow Belt.

Basic Ballroom Dance - Mr. Asa Wright
CLASS WILL BE HELD AT DIFFERENT LOCATION AND DAY
6:30 - 7:20 THURSDAYS Grades: 13 and up. Adults welcome!

Students will learn the basic moves/ steps of ballroom dancing such as : Fox Trot,
Waltz, Swing and others. This is a great option for students planning to attend
prom!

Children's Author Studies - Mrs. Tina Good

We will critically evaluate an author’s themes, characters, and writing style, make
connections between the author’s life and work, make personal connections
between their own experiences and those of the author and his/her characters.
In addition to reading several works by an author, key components of an author
study will include discussion, research, and a final project.

Knitting: Your Choice from Beginner to Lace- Mrs. Joanna Mohn

Come learn to knit, or take your knitting to the next level. You can customize this
course to your level and to your schedule. You may choose to take the class for 8
or 12 weeks and choose between a beginner’s project, or a choice of hat, or a
project of your choice. The supply fee for each project includes circular knitting
needles and wool yarn. Samples of each of the projects will be on display at signup. Anyone who signs up at the sign-up day will be able to choose the color of
their yarn. If you want to do another project of your own, please talk to me.

Fiction Writing - Mr. Josiah Hager

This course is geared toward students who already love to read and write/desire
to write. This course purposes to teach good fiction writing through lecture,
discussion and writing assignments (students must understand that they will
share some of their work with classmates for the purpose of feedback and
constructive criticism). The course will feature writing prompts, learning and
discussing writing fundamentals (plot, structure, voice, description, character
development, point of view, dialogue), learning to be a critical reader, and original
work by students that will be created inside and outside of class. Students will
produce at least two short stories and will be encouraged to pursue appropriate
contests and publishing possibilities for their work. Although 8th graders are
welcome to join, they should be reading and writing on a high school level. This
course requires discipline to complete writing projects outside of class.
Although there are no assigned books for this course, students will keep a journal
of what they read during the semester. Short stories, sections of novels, and
other material available in the public domain will be distributed and read during
some class sessions and may be sent home as suggested or required reading.

The Civil War Era part 2 - Ms. Sheral Henderson

Emancipation Proclamation, Lincoln's life, Gettysburg and the effects of the war.
We will visit the Lexington Museum and a Civil War reenactment.

Students will learn the basic concepts of a guitar and will be introduced to basic
chords, strumming and a simple song. Students are expected to practice 10 -15
minutes per day using the handouts.

Worshiping Hands- Mrs. Ann Moore

Worshiping Hands will be used to learn sign language along with some different
Christian songs. We will learn some basics, including the alphabet, but most of
our time will be spent learning a couple of worship songs. Focus will be spent on
ways the students can use sign language to help enhance their own personal
worship.

do crafts based on this time period. We will plan to visit the Pioneer School house

Come join choir this semester and enjoy making music together. I am still
working on the repertoire, but I hope we can perform pieces about different
people. I promise you will enjoy the music. As always, proper vocal technique is

Essentials of the English Language - Mrs. Tina Good

This is a second semester class. I will be teaching the Essentials of the English
Language by Leigh Bortins of Classical Conversations. We will be systematically
breaking down the grammar of the English language in order to master it. In class
time we will practice what we have learned in fun group activities and go over
new information. Outside of class there will be daily activities to complete at
home to master the information and be prepared to participate in the classroom
activities. A parent must be with their student every week in order to know what
activities to do at home and how to do them.

Beginning Orchestra - Miss Sarah Cool

Grades: ages: 7 years and up
Class Maximum: 20
Learn to play violin, viola, cello or bass! Students will develop the fundamental
techniques for playing stringed instruments, form good practice habits and learn
teamwork skills by playing music with a group. Parents are required to attend the
class to take notes to supervise practice at home. Twenty to thirty minutes of
practice every day is recommended for optimum skill development and
enjoyment. Folk tunes, classical music, and fiddle music will be taught in this
class. Parent information session will be offered at the beginning of the semester.
Do not purchase an instrument from eBay, Amazon, or a pawn shop without teacher approval.
These instruments are often very cheaply made and do not stay in tune.

This is the continuation of the fall semester. We will be focusing on the study of
Verbs. Using the Henle Latin books, we will focus on learning to read and
translate the Latin language, while reinforcing our understanding of English
grammar. Class time will be used to introduce new material, answer questions,
play games and practice Latin exercises together. Daily practice of vocabulary and
completion of exercises will be expected. You must work on homework daily or
you will not be able to keep up with this class. Parents are welcome to attend
with their child. I feel this allows the parent to be able to help when questions
arise at home.

In this class we will take the skills that students developed in the first semester,
and refine them further. Each student will develop and refine 2 ten-minute
speeches: one interpretive and one platform speech that could be used to
compete in an NCFCA tournament. We will also continue to work on impromptu
speeches. For the platform and impromptu speeches, emphasis will be placed on
a provocative thesis, well developed supporting points, and effective delivery.
Students will be encouraged, but not required, to compete in a National Christian
Forensics and Communicators Association (NCFCA) tournament. Completion of
my Introduction to Speech class is a pre-requisite for this class.

Throughout Godonomic$, author and pastor Chad Hovind explores God's

and Generosity. Chad presents a Biblical case for free-market enterprise, and
offers God's perspective for the economic decisions of an individual, a family, and
even a nation.

The Contenders for the Faith is a handbook for young men to equip them to
become godly men and competent providers for their future families. The boys
will learn how to handle finances, do home maintenance, and develop skills in
leadership. Plus, Bible reading, memory work, and Bible study are included to aid
them in developing good habits in their own walk with God. It is never to early for
a young boy to learn to become a man. Topics and activities will be age
appropriate.
