Overview of scanning service
High quality scans up to 2400 dots per inch with true 48-bit
colour, produced on the Library’s high speed HP ScanJet
7450c flatbed scanner. Image scanning and optical character
recognition (OCR) for text are both available. Slides, 35 mm
negatives and transparencies up to 5 x 5 inches can also be
scanned.
Maximum scan size
Up to 8.5 x 14 inches.
Normal turnaround times
Next business day, if received by 3:30pm. Turnaround time
depends on the nature of the request. Any problems with your
scan job may delay delivery.
Outputs
Scanned files can be saved to a floppy, CD, zip disk, or as an
e-mail attachment, depending on the file size.
How to submit your request

• Submit the completed form in person.
Please note
If this is your first scan job with us, we request that you be present
initially at scanning to ensure that the product is scanned as
expected. Photocopy Services staff do not to edit or retouch
images, other than minor cropping. If manipulation beyond minor
cropping is required, this will delay your scan job and extra
changes may accrue at a rate of $20.00 per hour, or a portion
thereof.
Additionally, as a general rule, users wanting to make copies of a
work must get permission from the copyright holder. Permission is
not required for copying that is done as “fair dealing” for the
purposes of research, private study or recreation. Brock University
has signed a licence with Access Copyright (formerly CanCopy),
which authorizes copying within certain limits. For details see:

Fees
• $1.00 per scan
• Free, if scanned image or text is inserted into a printing job.
• CD-RWs are available for purchase = $2.00 each or you can
supply your own.
