Child Weight Management Nutritionist- MEND Salary £18,000-22,000 per annum pro-rata (multiple roles available, 16-40 hours a week) All roles will require evening and weekend work. We have a number of exciting opportunities to join our team working in a whole systems approach across the three boroughs in London (Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster). We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to deliver obesity prevention and treatment group programmes (MEND) to children, young people and teenagers. The MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition...Do it!) Programme was developed at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the University College London Institute of Child Health and is one of the UK's most innovative and effective obesity prevention and treatment programmes for children and their parents. The MEND Programme is a multi-component healthy lifestyle programme encompassing education on healthy eating, fun games to stimulate an active interest in physical activity and behaviour modification techniques to boost self-confidence. Key responsibilities (not limited to): Self-manage the sessions you are delivering within the child weight management service in various community locations. To work as a member of the Child Weight Management Service team to provide comprehensive, effective and culturally sensitive multi-component weight management programmes to children and families. Responsible for accurate collection and recording of children’s data and pre/post programme measurements, uploading to Mytime Active database Responsible for the marketing of programmes and recruitment / retention of participants Working with key local stakeholders to improve referral pathways into service Person Specification Essential that you have a professional qualification in nutrition or dietetics and are educated to degree level or equivalent. You should be a registered nutritionist with at least 1 year nutrition experience which will include some healthy lifestyle community based work. Enthusiastic about improving health and wellbeing and able to demonstrate: a suitable qualification (minimum Associate Nutritionist). It is essential that you have experience of managing/facilitating large groups and you feel confident in doing so. Ideally this experience should include working with children and families. You will ideally have a background or training in behaviour change. In addition to the ability to work with and manage large groups, you must also be able to motivate and inspire the group. You must have successfully completed MEND Programme Theory training and have passed the post training assessment before they run the MEND Programme (all Leaders will receive a certificate as evidence of completing the training). We recommended they also complete the two days of Exercise Training. This training will be provided on successful appointment. All appointments subject to satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.
