Although the commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession has been increasing
exponentially over the past two decades, the actions and results coming from that commitment
have been slow and stagnant, not because of the big things we get right but because of the small
unintentional things that we get wrong. This course is an exploration of how microinequities,
microinsults and microaggressions impact interactions and decision making in the legal profession
and in legal workplaces resulting in a devastating impact on long-term retention and advancement
of diverse talent, with a focus on racial, cultural and gender differences. Dr. Arin N. Reeves will
cover the basic principles of microinequities and explore their influence on the progress of diversity
and inclusion efforts in the legal profession. Participants will leave the webinar with a better
understanding of microinequities and microaggressions in the workplace, an improved ability to
define and understand the total impact of inclusion, advance diverse lawyers through effective
mentoring, feedback and evaluations, and highlight the ways in which diverse lawyers can step
into leadership positions through client development opportunities.
