You are required to compete 52 hours of pre-licensing
education classes before you can apply for a California
Insurance License. Several schools are available in each
major city. Onsite training is available for groups of +20
students. Cost average is $220 per student.
Once the 52 Hour Class is complete a certification of
completion is issued.
Log on to the California Dept. of Insurance (CDI) website
www.insurance.ca.gov , complete an application and
submit fees of $185.00 for the state license via MC/VISA.
You are then allowed through the web site to schedule an
exam at the time and location of your choice.
The day of your test, bring the certification of completion
to the testing site along with a check for $76 for the finger
printing fee. After passing the test with a score of +70%
the testing site forwards all paperwork (cert. and finger
prints) to Sacramento for final processing.
Approximately two weeks after passing the test, the CDI
website will list you as a licensed agent and shortly after
the license will be sent to the rep from the California
Department of Insurance.
