Credit arrangements for Temasek Polytechnic students The University of Melbourne is committed to offering suitably qualified articulating Temasek Polytechnic students admission to undergraduate degrees with credit. The amount of credit granted depends on the content and standard of the studies undertaken within the diploma and your intentions regarding the structure of your course at the University of Melbourne. The information below is intended to provide guidelines of the current arrangements in place for Temasek Polytechnic students interested in the University of Melbourne. In order to be eligible for the arrangements listed below you must meet the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) and satisfy the University of Melbourne’s English language requirements. If you are completing a diploma not included below you are encouraged to apply and your application will be assessed individually. Bachelor of Biomedicine Bachelor of Commerce The Bachelor of Biomedicine provides the solid foundation necessary to prepare students for health-related and other professional programs and specialised graduate research. The Bachelor of Commerce provides the opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge for a career in commerce and business that is unrivalled in Australia. Graduates develop foundation business skills through five compulsory subjects and the completion of a major or double major from the disciplines of accounting, actuarial studies, business, economics, finance, marketing and/or management. At the core of the degree is knowledge of the normal structure and function of the body and consideration of the determinants of disease. Students in the Bachelor of Biomedicine will also develop fundamental skills in the scientific method, critical thinking and problem solving, the analysis of evidence and communication. bcom.unimelb.edu.au bbiomed.unimelb.edu.au Temasek diploma Credit granted Diploma in Biomedical Science (Pharmaceutical Science and Technology)* Diploma in Biotechnology* Diploma in Chemical Engineering* Graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.5 will be eligible for credit towards the Bachelor of Biomedicine. Up to 125 points of credit can be awarded to the core and breadth components of the Biomedicine degree. Course length with maximum credit is 2 years.^ * Students will be ineligible to study the Bioengineering major except in select cases dependent on the subjects studied within the Polytechnic qualification. ^ Please note that due to the structure of the course the Bachelor of Biomedicine does not offer mid-year entry. ^ Temasek diploma Credit granted Diploma in Accounting and Finance Diploma in Business Diploma in Business Information Technology Diploma in Law and Management Diploma in Logistics and Operations Management Diploma in Marketing Graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.2 will be eligible for specified and unspecified credit^ towards the Bachelor of Commerce equating to an overall maximum of eight subjects (usually 100 points). Applicants should have obtained an overall result of at least B+ in the Diploma. All holders of a Diploma with Merit will be guaranteed a place in the Bachelor of Commerce. Course length with maximum credit is 2 years. Specified credit only for Diploma in Accounting and Finance graduates. futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of ENVIRONMENTS The Bachelor of Arts equips students with broad skills and specialised knowledge to help them achieve excellence in their career or further study. The degree allows students to gain foundational knowledge and an understanding of the issues affecting our world, as well as new perspectives on how to approach ideas and problems. The Bachelor of Environments equips students with the skills needed to address the urgent problems our world faces – from climate change and the scarcity of critical resources like food and water, to urban growth, globalisation and sustainability. The course takes a unique, multidisciplinary approach to the study of our environment. Recognising the complex relationships between our landscapes and our cities, it examines how the natural, virtual, built and social environments have sustained our past and define our future. Course length with maximum credit is 2 years. Diploma in Integrated Facility Management Graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 will be eligible for a maximum of: •100 points of credit towards the Bachelor of Environments (Architecture major). Course length with maximum credit is 2 years. •50 points of credit towards the Bachelor of Environments (Property major), Course length with maximum credit is 2.5 years. Mid-year intake only. Diploma in Interior Architecture and Design Graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (plus a folio) will be eligible for 200 points of credit towards the Bachelor of Environments (Architecture major). Course length with maximum credit is 1 year. Credit granted Graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 will usually be awarded 100 points of credit at first year level towards the Bachelor of Arts.^ Course length with maximum credit is 2 years. Students who wish to pursue majors in Economics, Psychology or a language within the Bachelor of Arts may be required to relinquish credit. The relinquishing of credit may lengthen the course. Bachelor of Science The Bachelor of Science provides a foundation of knowledge in the sciences and technology that equips you with the skills to engage in scientific investigation and contribute to scientific debate. The degree is a first step in the development of a careers in professional science, engineering, IT or health practice, which can also be pursued through further study. bsc.unimelb.edu.au Temasek diploma* Credit granted Diploma in Applied Food Science and Nutrition Diploma in Biomedical Science Diploma in Biotechnology Diploma in Chemical Engineering Diploma in Electronics Diploma in Microelectronics Diploma in Media and Communication Technology Graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 will be eligible for credit towards the Bachelor of Science. Usually 100-150 points of credit can be awarded depending on the chosen major and intake period. Course length with maximum credit is 1.5 – 2 years.^ * Please note that not all mathematics subjects offered in the Temasek diplomas meet the Bachelor of Science mathematics entry requirements. Students may be made a conditional offer that requires them to meet the mathematics prerequisite by successfully completing the UniLearn 'Senior Mathematics' subject. ^ Please note that due to course structure and subject sequencing certain majors may take students up to 3 years to complete.
