El Paso Country Day School - Summer 2014 Reading List: Grade 6 - 8 Reading assignments will be collected on August 25, 2014. These exercises will constitute a portion of the first quarter grades. Tebbetts Choose one of the following for each novel read. Consider the projects carefully, so you are able to choose the most appropriate project for each book. Your work must be done in a Word document, Times News Roman, 12 pt. Font, 1-inch margins. You must submit a hardcopy of your work. These assignments will be the first grades entered for the 2014-2015 school year. Each book report is a separate grade. Enjoy your reading! 1. In your own words, write a chapter summary for EVERY chapter. The summaries should be between 5 and 6 sentences in length. 2. Describe each character and the basic setting. These descriptions should also be between 5 and 6 sentences in length. 3. Write down 20-25 words you do not know and define them using complete sentences. Identify what page you got the word from. 4. Write an alternative ending for the book; minimum 2 pages for sixth grade, 3 pages for 7th & 8th grades. Typed, double-spaced. 5. Make a “cereal box” develop a game, or create a diorama reflecting the plot, characters, etc. ADDITIONALLY: Choose ONE book and prepare a Powerpoint presentation. Slides must include: 1. Title of book, author and your name. 3. Characters 5. Your response to story 2. Plot 4. Summary of story Powerpoint Due Date (or other presentation software): Sept. 2, 2014. We will review in-class before due date.
