Kindergarten
Students will use their imaginations to create blueprints for a unique building. Students will learn about the glazing process as they finish their ceramic pinch pots.
Grade 1
Students will use texture and hand-building techniques to create a personal ceramic tile.
Grade 2
Students will use pattern, radial symmetry, and weaving techniques to create colorful paper plate weavings.
Grade 3
Students will use color, line, shape, pattern, and value to create eye popping OP art drawings inspired by the art of optical illusions.
Grade 4
Students will create decorative and functional weathervanes inspired by mythological creatures.
Grade 5
Students will use a variety of hand-building techniques to create intricate coil vases.

Kindergarten: Students conduct a class survey to answer a question. They organize, analyze, and formulate questions about the class data?
1 st Graders: Students research and gather information from provided digital and print sources to answer the question, How do humans impact the environment?
2 nd graders: Students will research and gather information from provided digital and print sources to research an accomplished individual.
3 rd graders: Students research to locate information, and facts that explain the differing points of view of their issue to develop a short informative piece.
4 th graders: Students analyze the search strategies they have developed over the year for print and digital sources. Students evaluate resources for reliability.
5 th graders: Students choose an occupation to research for the 4th quarter. In addition to selecting, evaluating and recording information from print and digital sources, students gather firsthand accounts of information from interviews and surveys.
Grades K - 2
Students will demonstrate an understanding of why it’s important to set goals while practicing.
Students will then use goal setting strategies as a mechanism for improvement within a skill set (dribble, pass & shoot a soccer ball).
Grades 3 - 5
Tennis - Striking with short handled implements.
Student will use the

**All grades will begin preparation for Field
Day.
Kindergarten students will continue to explore singing games and finger plays while following steady beat. They will also use picture symbols to arrange short music patterns with long/short, high/low sounds.
1 and 2 grade
Students will work on recognizing different music styles. They will also experience notating and composing using familiar rhythms and pitches.
3 rd graders will notate simple rhythm and pitch patterns using familiar notation. They will also use their voices and instruments to improvise “answer” phrases.
4 th grade
The emphasis of the unit is on listening to and performing music with changes in expressive qualities. Students will work also work on independently composing an 8-beat melody on given rhythms. Composer of the month is Franz Liszt.
5th grade
Focus in this unit is singing
2- part songs and partner songs. Students will be finishing their original compositions. In addition, they will be introduced to the works of Gilbert and
Sullivan.
