MESSAGE FROM
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
DATUK KAMARUDDIN MOHD ISMAIL
DPA(UiTM), BBA(WIU), MLEA(WIU)
Chief Operating Officer & Senior Lecturer
Saito College has over 25 years of experience
in providing tertiary education that champion
both academic excellence and industry
relevance for individuals to achieve a more
rewarding career.
Fortified with expertise and intelligence of
today’s evolving market trends and
socio-economic development, Saito College
identified the importance and relevance of
security enhancement in supporting and
complementing the country’s growth and
development. Therefore, there is a need to
elevate the fields of security and law
enforcement at par with global standards.
The college had then taken a bold step in
introducing the first Diploma in Security
Management programme in Malaysia. The
Diploma has been accredited by the
Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and is
recognised by the Public Service Department
(JPA). Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had also
graciously hosted and officiated the
commencement of the first intake for police
personnel at the Markas Pasukan Gerakan
Am, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur on the 16th of July
2010. Currently there are more than 340
policemen and officers undertaking the
diploma programme at Saito.
In line with Royal Malaysia Police’s initiative to
enhance the expertise and professionalism of
police personnel, the Diploma in Security
Management programme will provide
invaluable knowledge and exposure in the
areas of police science and law enforcement.
Saito College has pledged full support to work
with PDRM to continuosly enhance the course
syllabus to meet the requirements and
competencies and also other law
enforcement agencies that require similar
training.
Since the introduction of the Diploma Security
Management in 2007, Saito College has
received overwhelming response from PDRM
and other law enforcement agencies in the
country as well as SPM holders. Today, the
college has over 1,000 students enrolled in the
programme.
Saito College upholds its responsibility in
educating individuals to better contribute to
society and therefore, the college offers
end-to-end support and facilitation to the
students to ensure they are focused,
understand the core knowledge of the
courses and graduate with the highest honour.
The Diploma in Security Management
programme is delivered by qualified
professionals with vast experience in law
enforcement, security management and legal
practice. The course curriculum also entails
special efforts to ensure that police personnel
are able to adopt and apply the newly
acquired knowledge into their daily roles and
responsibilities. Additionally, Saito College will
assist new students in applying for financial
assistance. We are also working towards
collaborating with colleges and universities
abroad to enhance the programme a notch
up to a degree level. This would be the
college’s next dynamic venture in the quest to
further enhance individual professionalism in
the country.
The Diploma will most certainly enhance
knowledge, professionalism and add value to
professionals meeting the nation. As part of
developing a continuosly learning
organisation, PDRM had applauded all police
personnel who had enrolled in the Diploma as
the course curriculum is another tool to further
propel the police force towards achieving an
enhanced performance level through
professionalism brought about by knowledge
in policing and it’s on-the-job application.
The field of study will also be suitable and
applicable for personnel (both civilian and
uniformed) involved in the field of security and
safety. It will build professionalism and
complement our national effort in enhancing
security and safety in the country. We
encourge and welcome you to contact us to

BEST STUDENT AWARD
Pioneer batch of Royal Malaysian Police Students attending The Diploma in Security Management Course.
My decision to study Security Management
was an easy one. I had always looked up to
my father who is a police officer. So when I
came across Saito College’s Diploma in
Security Management, I knew immediately
that this was the course for me. Especially
when I found out that the course is recognized
by ‘Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam’ which
meant I could use my diploma as an entry into
uniformed bodies.
The 2 and a half years spent at Saito Security
Academy will always stay with me as the best
time of my life. It is here that I became an
adult. My lecturers enlightened me on the
world of safety and security and opened up
my eyes to a myriad of career options. I
started to realise that my diploma is not just an
entry into uniformed bodies. It is a stepping
stone into a meaningful career that helps
provide peace of mind for our society.
Life at Saito was of course not all about
lectures and books. Our course of studies was
really hands on. We were brought to visit the
Royal Malaysia Police Force, experience court
hearings and even practiced collecting
evidence in a moot crime scene. This practical
approach really built my confidence in myself
and my ability to perform well in the field.
I am proud to report that I am now a
Occupational Health and Safety Officer for
one of the world’s largest glove
manufacturing companies – Top Glove. My
daily tasks includes making regular checks
within the company’s premise to identify
hazards and risks . I then make
recommendations on how to minimise and
control these control these hazards and risks. I
am also required to provide training on
occupational safety and health for all
employees so that they are always aware of
how to act in dangerous situations.
I am also pursuing my degree in Occupational
Safety and Health on weekends. In three years
from now, upon graduating university, I hope
to return to Saito College, this time as a
lecturer. It is my aspiration to share my love for
the field with students and hopefully inspire
them to follow their dreams and make our
society a better, safer place to live. It is after
all an industry much in need of professionals
with sound practical and technical skills and I
speak from experience when I say, there is no
better place to gain this invaluable
experience than Saito College.
There is nothing to describe if I remember
back memories when I was in Saito College,
always makes me smile. In Saito College, I
could see a broader future. With the
guidance of well experienced instructors,
trainers and lecturers with friendly support from
staff officer, makes me pretty comfortable
here. I am working hard to achieve my
ambition to become an occupational safety
and health, and now I have achieved my
goal and ambition. My determination to
succeed in life, start here. With this diploma I
managed to continue my studies in the field
of occupational safety and health. Service
and sacrifice of all teaching staff in Saito
College, I will always cherish forever. I see all
the theory and practical during my studies in
Saito College is very much in line with the
requirements of the security and safety
services industry. I pray that Saito College will
continue to thrive and produce more
successful graduates prospects at a higher
level.
To achieve success, it is not easy. But here,
with the experience and expertise of lecturers
has allowed me to achieve success.

students to become well-rounded adults who
consciously contribute to society. This means
