Dear XXXXX,
The JDRF Greater Bay Area Chapter would like to invite the child in your life to apply to serve as an
Ambassador for our 2013 Walk to Cure Diabetes. JDRF is looking for Walk Ambassadors to represent
each of our four (4) Greater Bay Area Walk destinations. The role of the Walk Ambassador is to assist
JDRF in educating the community about what it is like living with type 1 diabetes (TID). Each will be
trained to effectively communicate JDRF’s mission, to find a cure for T1D and its complications through
the support of research.
The Walk Ambassador program gives JDRF the ability to make our message distinctive, memorable and
meaningful. After all, finding a cure for you is what we are all about. We have found the most effective
messengers to share the story of TID are the young people who are living with this every day. Last
year, our nine Walk Ambassadors found the program to be easy and fun. They learned a great deal and
found new friendships with each other.
A detailed list of opportunities and expectations is enclosed along with a Walk Ambassador application.
If the child in your life is interested in representing JDRF as a 2013 Walk Ambassador, please fill out the
enclosed application and fax or mail it back to the Greater Bay Area office. For questions or more
information, contact Simone Price at 415-597-6319 or sprice@jdrf.org. We look forward to working
with you in our quest to find a cure!
Sincerely,
Susan Mohr

Walk to Cure Diabetes Kick Off
We are looking for someone who enjoys speaking in public! Each year we hold one Kick Off for each
Walk destination. This will be the first speaking engagement. Kick Off and Walk dates are listed below.
Corporate Team Kick Offs and Additional Speaking Engagements
We encourage Corporate Teams to hold internal kick offs leading up to Walk. Most teams love to have
the Walk Ambassador come and share his or her story. There are several of these kick offs each month
throughout the summer, so we do not expect one child to be available for all. We will contact each Walk
Ambassador to see if they are available.

The Walk Ambassador’s photo and bio will be featured in our event collateral and on our Chapter Walk
