Research Development Associate
Overview
Reporting to the Director, Donor Relations, this is a unique opportunity for an experienced, creative
and dedicated database manager and prospect research professional to lead JDRF’s research, data
and prospect management program.
The Research Development Associate will work as an integrated member of the Donor Relations
team, proactively advancing development activity by contributing their expertise to maximize
fundraising revenues through more strategic use of donor data and through effective database
management and acknowledgement processes. Specifically, the Research Development Associate
will:
Responsibilities
 Work with the Donor Relations senior executives to ensure the development team is able
to identify and cultivate new prospects and steward current donors
 Plan and execute creative strategies to identify sources of major gifts and quickly
distinguish and present relevant information about donors and prospects
 Qualify potential prospects using industry best practices
 Provide high-level research on individuals, corporations and foundations using a wide
variety of biographical material, financial asset information, relationship to JDRF,
programmatic areas of interest, gift potential, past philanthropic activity and affiliations to
other organizations
 Manage donor and prospect information within JDRF’s database, ensuring that all are
properly identified and current information is incorporated into their files
 Monitor and communicate news, events and issues that impact on the Foundation’s
fundraising strategies and the philanthropic environment
 Provide written reports about specific donors and prospects, containing an analysis of
information gathered from public sources
 Compose documents such as profiles, biographies and project summaries, using style,
grammar and content appropriate to the target audiences
 Adherence to ethical and confidentiality guidelines and standards
Qualifications:
 A Masters in Library Sciences would be a definite asset
 Two to three years research skills and experience

Strong computer skills in MS Word and Excel
Proficient searching on-line databases and the Internet
Ability to analyze, synthesize, and organize material from multiple sources and articulate
findings clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
A high level of writing and research skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with little supervision
Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail
