Run, Mom, Run! Olympians, Celebrities to Run with their Moms The Inaugural Fairmont Mother’s Day Run Set for this Sunday May 7, 2015 (Vancouver) – Mothers and their families are taking part in a little more physical activity than normal this Sunday before they delve into their traditional Mother’s Day Brunch. Nearly 1000 mothers and their families will take part in the inaugural Fairmont Mother’s Day Run this Sunday on a trek that starts in Stanley Park, travels along the Coal Harbour Seawall, and finishes at the Olympic Flames in Jack Poole Plaza. Finishers Medals? Not on this day. Mothers will receive a designer Pashmina Scarf at the finish line along with all participants being showered with a number of gifts including champagne, chocolate, soap, lotions and more. The event has attracted a number of Olympians and celebrities that will be participating with their families. Two-­‐time Olympian and Ironman World Championship contender, Brent McMahon, will be running alongside his mother, Terry. Lucy Smith, a 19 time Canadian national running champion will run with her 10 year old son, Ross. The run will feature traditional awards as well as unique categories such as the Mom With the Most Children in the Race, The Fastest Mother/Daughter and Mother/Son Teams, and The Family with the Most Generations in the Race. Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, global leaders in the hospitality industry, will offer options for Mother's Day Brunch and special weekend hotel rates for out of town participants or those who want to pamper mom with a “staycation”. The Fairmont Mother’s Day Run & Walk options include 3k, 5k and 10k categories, and the weekend will also include fitness activities and clinics presented by GoodLife Fitness, lululemon, PowerBar, and LifeSport Coaching. Moms are the main focus of the event, however everyone is welcome to participate. The event is pleased to have Make-­‐A-­‐Wish® BC & Yukon as the Official Charity.
