“Iron Road Show” at ArtSpace Herndon

Works in all media are sought for an exhibit of art on a railroading theme.
Located “railside” along a former W&OD train embankment, ArtSpace Herndon is a particularly
appropriate site for this upcoming show.
Within whistling distance of the historic Depot and old red caboose, ArtSpace will concurrently host a
Model Railroad Show during the art show on December 13th and 14th, featuring HO and N Scale
layouts.
Rail fans as well as families and local history buffs will enjoy this varied event.
Visual or performing artists are encouraged to submit artwork to be reviewed by a jury for
consideration in the “Iron Road Show” Exhibit. Please complete the attached application and include
the following with your submission:

Up to 4 Images of your own original artwork to be considered for the exhibit (Videos are
welcome). ArtSpace Herndon accepts a variety of formats in either color or black-and-white:
digital images of 300 dpi in resolution in jpeg format, good quality prints, slides, or transparencies.
Images of insufficient resolution or clarity will not be considered. A link to your website is
acceptable, if details are provided to identify which images you are submitting for the exhibit.
Site restrictions prohibit religious, sexually explicit (nudity), or violent themes.
If an artist includes a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) with photos, CD's, DVD's, slides,
etc., the materials will be returned by mail.

Each image or video should include an identifying caption or title, the date of completion, the
genre or medium and size or length of the original piece, and price. For abstract images, the artist
should clearly identify the correct orientation.

The regular $35.00 submission fee is waived for this show only.

Submission does not guarantee that your work will be accepted or exhibited.
ArtSpace Herndon will contact artists once the jury has completed its work.
Artists certify that all images submitted for this exhibit accurately represent the original works.
Artists agree to participate in the “Iron Road Show” Exhibit, if their work is juried in.
All artwork submitted for the exhibit must be framed and ready to hang with screw eyes and wire. The artist
is responsible for labeling his/her own artwork.
The Artist is responsible for insuring, delivering, and picking up his/her own artwork.
o Artwork must present their artwork for checked-in on Monday, December 1, 2008 from 12 Noon –
2PM.
o Artists must pick up their artwork on Monday, January 5, 2009 from 10am -12 Noon.
o If necessary, the artist may make arrangements with ArtSpace to return ship artwork after Monday,
January 5, 2009. The artist must pay for a shipping service (a local Fed Ex or UPS store) to pack,
insure and ship the artwork and agrees to pay a fee of $25.00 to ArtSpace for providing this service.
The Artist agrees that ArtSpace Herndon will select the artwork to be exhibited and will choose the location
in which to display the artwork within ArtSpace.
The Artist agrees that all paintings featured in the exhibit will be available for sale at a price of the Artist’s
choosing unless marked “not for sale”.
Artwork displayed in and around ArtSpace will be exhibited at the artist’s own risk.
The artist agrees to participate in exhibit openings.
The Artist agrees to pay a 25% commission to the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts for artwork sold
during the exhibit.
The artist agrees that Artspace Herndon and the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts may use images
of the artwork featured in the exhibit for promotional purposes.
Statement of Liability: The Artists warrants and represents that he/she owns the copyright to the images
submitter for this exhibit or that those works do not infringe the copyrights, trademarks, right of privacy or any
other rights of any third parties, and of any other person. The Artist hereby indemnifies and holds ArtSpace
Herndon and the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts harmless for any claims arising from the exhibition
and or sale of such works in violation of the above warrants. By signing this application, I certify that I have
read and agree to abide by all guidelines outlined on this form.
