Sheep’s Eye Dissection The eye is one of many sensory organs in the human body. The eye allows us to receive stimuli from the outside world. Eyes have unique adaptations that enable us to see objects, shadows and color. Today, a sheep’s eye will serve as a model for the human eye. You will identify the major parts and their function. Objective: 1. Identify parts of the eye. 2. Identify the function of parts of the eye. Safety Precautions: 1. Wear protective eyewear throughout entire lab. 2. Wear apron throughout entire lab. 3. Wear gloves throughout entire lab. 4. Use a cutting motion away from yourself and others. 5. Follow instructions exactly. ! Procedure: 1. Using the literature (handouts) on the eye and the sheep’s eye, identify and describe the specific parts of the eye. 2. Complete the table below with a description of each part and its function. 3. As you dissect the eye, remove the parts, draw and label them in your table. 4. Notify your teacher when you have identified and labeled all of the specified parts of the eye.
