WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME! Welcome to all of our incoming nursing students! We are so proud and happy that you will be attending the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing (SON). You have chosen wisely! I know things may seem a little overwhelming right now, but very soon, everything will settle down and it will seem easier! The following is a little information about ATI. This is a company that has many products for nursing students and nursing schools. We use these products to assess your nursing knowledge and judgment, as well prepare you for your clinicals and state board examinations (NCLEX). Please read over the following – some of it will not apply to you yet but it is good to see the information and know where to go to review it again! (Hint – save it!) ATI Essentials – Part I Here are some tips to create your account and use ATI effectively. Please go ahead and create your account now, as you will use ATI the first week of class! The ATI online site is www.atitesting.com. When you go to this site, you will be requested to create your account. Follow the directions and please, remember your username and password. These will be in effect while you are a student here! (But if you forget, your Retention Counselor will be able to give them to you again.) Please DO NOT create another account! If you already have an account with ATI, sign in and find the “Edit Your Account” button on the home page, then change the Institution to “TX Tech U Traditional” for traditional program students or “TX Tech U 2nd Degree” for the 2nd Degree program. You have to go all the way down the list of “T’s” to get to the TX. (Do not use “Texas Tech U – AH” – that’s Allied Health!) Change your graduation date if needed. If you can’t remember your user name or password, call your Retention Counselor or Bren Threadgill (806-543-3915)! If you are creating your account, TTUHSC Traditional Undergraduate Program is listed on the Institution drop-down list as “TX Tech U Traditional”. The 2nd Degree Program is listed as “TX Tech U 2nd Degree” Please disable your pop-up blockers (you want to allow pop-ups from atitesting.com) from the Internet Options under Tools. When you disable pop-up blockers, make sure you do so from every toolbar you have! Make atitesting.com a trusted site on your computer. The ATI site has a list of everything that you will need to install for both PC’s and Mac’s. Under the sign-in at www.atitesting.com there is a box to click on for technical requirements. Let your Retention Counselor (or Bren Threadgill, 806-543-3915) know if you are having problems creating your account. ATI provides books, skills modules, pharmacology package, proctored exams, practice exams (with and without rationales) and targeted reviews, as well as programs to help you learn, study and test more effectively. You will receive a complete set of ATI books the first week of class. The books are similar to NCLEX review books and, as such, are a wonderful resource to familiarize you with new information before reading the textbook. The textbook readings will be enhanced by seeing the concepts in a condensed form first. You will also have access to all of the ATI books (they are called Review Modules) online at the ATI site, under the Product Support Materials button on the homepage. The online books have added resources, such as embedded videos, so it is worth your while to look at them! The Product Support Materials tab also has a list of corrections for any book that may need them, as well as a host of other helpful materials for you, such as Active Learning Templates and Assessment Information (info about ATI exams). You will be doing yourself a big favor by just getting into ATI and poking around to see what’s what – you can’t hurt anything! Creating an ATI folder is a good way to save your e-mails and information about ATI (great for review if you have questions!)
