BETWEEN JOBS MINISTRY Monday, April 15, 2013 - 4:00-6:00PM St. John Fisher School Computer Lab Are you “Linked In”? The Most Important Tool in Your Job Search One of the most effective tools for job search networking these days is LinkedIn. LinkedIn is an internet social networking site which allows you to reach out to others in your field, find former co-workers and colleagues and locate the right people to get you that important interview. Employers also use LinkedIn to find the right candidate for their company. That could be you! We will meet in the St. John Fisher computer lab, located in the school, to learn “hands on” how to make “LinkedIn work for you. Between Jobs Ministry the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00PM. Please let your unemployed friends and neighbors know about our parish’s job ministry. All are welcome and your prayers are always appreciated. If you know of a job opening, please let us know. For more information call Jim White (773) 322-2518. COMMUNAL ANOINTING OF THE SICK On Saturday, April 20th, at the 4:00p.m. mass, we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Anyone who suffers from a chronic illness (arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, etc.), anyone recovering from or facing surgery in the near future, anyone struggling with the effects of cancer or the challenges that come with aging, those suffering from an addiction, depression or some other mental or emotional illness— all are invited to share in this sacrament. We will keep the front pews of church on all three sides reserved for those who wish to be anointed and for their families, but we will ask those who are able to come forward, as you do for communion, to do so for the anointing. If you are not able to walk easily, we ask that you sit in the very first pews around the perimeter of the sanctuary and a priest will come to you. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the amazing grace of this powerful sacrament of hope and healing on April 20th. Registration for all of the early childhood programs at St. John Fisher (part and full time pre-school and all day kindergarten) are still open. The programs provide a wonderful balance between academic readiness and socialization skills in a highly creative and nurturing environment. Students quickly become “mini-falcons” through participation in many of the events and “specials” at the school including technology, gym, and music. Students may also attend the flexible extended day program. Please call the school for more information or to arrange a “campus tour” (773-445-4737). THANK YOU FROM THE VILLAGE PANTRY COALITION Dear Parishioners of St. John Fisher Parish, The Evergreen Park Village Pantry Coalition would like to take this opportunity for a heartfelt thank you for your generous food donation of various items from your Holy Name Society Easter food drive. We appreciate all your hard work and efforts for this successful event. Your support certainly helps the food pantry, for we are experiencing large numbers of families who are finding it difficult to make ends meet, because of illness or unemployment. On behalf of those less fortunate families, we thank you for remembering and caring for other people in our community. Sincerely, Jolene Churak, President Village Pantry Coalition WELCOME! WELCOME!! We extend a warm welcome to the following newly registered families of St. John Fisher Parish: Damian and Nicole O’Sullivan Charles and Megan Hayes STEWARDSHIP = TIME - TALENT - TREASURE . If there was a way for all of you to feel what I felt this week, I’d find it. But you really can’t describe this experience. How do you explain love in words? How do you capture the heart of someone in a picture? How do you say thank you for everything that you, the SJF and MHR parishioners, have done for all of us who attended this life – changing experience? I really don’t know. This place has taught me so much about myself, others, and the beautiful creation around us. In the poverty stricken hills of Harlan, Kentucky I have felt and seen so much love, gotten to know complete strangers – and I mean really know Bobby Kopale “During this past week, I worked at the challenge academy; this is a place that troubled teens go to get their GED. While I was there I met some of these people. They were very nice people who made bad decisions. I put in a sub ceiling in a storage closet so I don’t know how important it was but, I do know that it was appreciated. I saw this through the workers and volunteers alike. That made me feel much better about my job, and in the words of Kevin Kozek, ‘I have a new found respect for ceilings’. This week was great and I can’t wait until next year!” Molly Fahy “During my time in Harlan I saw a completely different lifestyle than I was use to. The people there were some of the greatest people I have ever met. They didn’t have everything that we have and take for granted. It made me realize how lucky I am.” 8TH GRADERS… Join us for Drop in this Wednesday! You can now be part of the Youth Ministry Program! Come see what everyone is talking about! Easter flower offering envelopes are available in your package of regular Sunday Offertory envelopes or on the tables near the Church doors. You will notice that the envelope has a line for “given in memory of” so that you can remember a departed loved one with your flower offering. The names of those being remembered will be printed in a bulletin(s) during the Easter season. Please return your Easter flower offering envelope in the regular collection or to the rectory during the next few weeks. LEARN TO EARN AN APPLE iPAD at 2013 ST.
