Calvary honors Munros
on 10th anniversary
I
n February 2006 Dr. John H. Munro, with his wife Gudny, accepted the call to
serve as Senior Pastor of Calvary Church. He has become our beloved “Preacher of Grace
and Shepherd of Souls.” Through his preaching thousands have heard God’s Word with
power and clarity, and many have trusted in Christ as Savior! Countless more have been
strengthened in their faith, comforted through suffering and loss, and encouraged as they
walk with the Lord. The Calvary flock has grown as we focus on our mission “to be and make
authentic followers of Jesus Christ.”
Today we celebrate a decade of ministry with John and Gudny Munro. The Calvary Choir
and Orchestra will lead us in worship with great songs of faith and thanksgiving. Sam Jacks,
Clerk of Session, will make a special presentation to the Munros on behalf of the leadership and
congregation. Together we give thanks to the Lord for His provision and blessings at Calvary
Church. Happy 10th Anniversary, Pastor Munro and Gudny!

From the Senior Pastor
A testimony to
the grace of God
“For the grace of God has appeared…”
Titus 2:11
A
s I look back on 10 years of
serving the Lord at Calvary, I
can testify of God’s amazing
grace appearing to me in
countless ways. Not only am I
saved by grace, but the grace of God has led
me safe thus far. All I
am and have is totally
dependent upon the
grace of God. I am
reminded of one of
my grandfather’s
favorite hymns, “I am
only a sinner saved by
grace.” Like Paul, I can
say that God “called
John & Gudny Munro
me by His grace” to
preach the unsearchable riches of Christ. I
cannot think of a higher privilege than being a
preacher of grace and a shepherd of souls.
I thank all of you for your prayers, patience,
encouragement, and support of Gudny and
myself over these 10 years at Calvary. I give
God all the glory. I have sought always to
preach Christ and not myself. As George
Whitefield said, “Others may preach better,
but no one can preach a better Gospel!”
May God’s grace continue to shine upon us as
we seek to be and make authentic followers of
Jesus Christ. n
