MANDATORY:
Registration or eligibility to register with Australian Health Practitioners
Registration Authority (AHPRA)
DESIRABLE:
Demonstrated experience in leading a large clinical team in both operational and strategic areas including management of organisational change
Well developed conceptual and analytical skills including financial, clinical activity, human resource management and reporting
Experience in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of strategies to achieve key business outcomes
Demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of, the principles of quality management, clinical research and policy development.
Postgraduate qualifications in management, health services management, business administration or working towards
Demonstrated high level negotiation skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to liaise effectively multidiscipliary team members, particularly as applicable to the continuous development of Peri-Operatives Services.
All Managers:
Management of resources, including WHPPD, WHPOM within established parameters
Implementation of the ‘Simply Better’ Program and ‘Scoreboards’
Implementation of programs relating to the ‘5 Areas of Preventable Harm’
100% compliance with Mandatory training obligations within the Unit/Department annually

Demonstrating the principles of work place equity, safety and injury prevention in work practices and interactions with patients, visitors, contractors and other Calvary employees and clients.
Being accountable for the management of risk by patients, visitors and contractors.
Manage risk management processes and systems to ensure safe, quality patient and organisational outcomes - including establishing a risk profile; developing risk management action plans; monitoring, evaluating and reporting of outcomes.
Specific functions for this position, in priority order:

Develop, co-ordinate and provide timely and effective communication and feedback to relevant stakeholders as part of the development, implementation and evaluation of key performance outcomes.

Promote and oversee the educational activities for peri-operative staff.
4.
Oversee the development of procedure and policy relating to peri-operative practice.

5.
Evaluate nursing practice through a program of performance management and identification of staff development needs.
6.
Liaise with Casemix and Business Managers, Surgeons and Anaesthetists to schedule operating lists according to service level agreements and to ensure cost effective utilisation of the Operating Rooms.
7.
Utilise effective team building techniques to support and promote harmonious staff relationships within Peri-Operatives Services.
8.
Provide advice on clinical and professional matters to senior management and represent the department at key meetings and as required.
