CAREER OPPORTUNITY:
The Regional Government Relations Manager provides important support for MWV and its domestic operations as an advocate, working closely with certain MWV mill and plant managers and business unit leadership. The Manager represents the company and its interests on state and local level key legislative and regulatory public policy matters - working on the key concerns affecting MWV operations and its competitiveness.
Represents the company as a Registered Lobbyist in several Key MWV states in the
Southern region, including Alabama, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia and Kentucky.
Interacts with local and state elected and regulatory officials on key issues of concern to
MWV and its future competitiveness. Of particular importance: must help lead company advocacy regarding wood availability challenges, working with mill and business unit leadership.
Represents the company as an active participant in trade associations and other business organizations.
Participates in internal coordination work on key policy issues, involving local and corporate employees of the company, which directly or indirectly impact the company and its operations.
HOW YOU IMPACT MWV:
Develops strong working relationships with key elected and regulatory officials at the
state and local levels of government. Regularly attends meetings at the State Capitols, especially when these legislatures are formally convening in session, as MWV’s representative.
Communicates internally on key issues with MWV personnel - at facility locations and/or
corporate level.
Communicates externally with other company representatives, trade association staff, as well as other organizations involved in policy issues. Advocates in support of MWV’s policy interests.
Drives company interests and positioning on key issues, as external advocate with public officials and outside organizations. Issues include wood availability challenges, water

supply, taxation, energy, environmental permitting, infrastructure/logistics and workforce issues.
Participates as an appointed member of the internal MWV Political Action Committee
(MWV PAC) Steering Committee. Responsibilities include facility - eligible employee
solicitation/communications efforts, decisions on political contributions to candidates and regular interaction with candidates running for political office.
Helps lead the major decisions and strategic focus of the MWV PAC.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bachelor’s degree required. Masters Degree in Business, Communications, Public
Administration or Law - preferred.
Experience as a Registered Lobbyist, minimum of four years preferred, including one or several states in the Southern region.
Current working relationships with key elected and regulatory officials - preferred
Experience as an employee of a company and/or business trade organizations, minimum
of four years - preferred, working on policy and/or politics - related work. Also preferred: experience in prior years in public service or non-profit organization involved in public policy or civic engagement.
Experience in working within organizations on formal and informal team settings, on public policy issues, including the details of issues, as well as political and tactical considerations - preferred
Strong writing skills, as well as ability to communicate both informally as well as formally in making presentations - required.
Works well in formal and informal team settings. But also works well day to day on a self - directed basis and schedule.
Has capability to advise on and implement strategies to address business – related policy and public relations challenges. Has solid public affairs acumen.
Strong understanding and sense of personal conduct and ethics - with respect to company compliance concerns as well as rules and laws associated with lobbying and company political advocacy.
