École Rochester Elementary School PAC Expanded 411 What is PAC? PAC stands for Parent Advisory Council. The purpose of the PAC is to offer parents an opportunity for communication between the school and home, to promote and support education, and to contribute to the sense of community within the school and between the school, home, and the Rochester neighbourhood. The PAC is very involved in our school community and organizes activities for students and parents including movie nights, fun fair, and swap meets. We aim to improve the learning experience of our students by including and supporting parents. Parents are partners in education and have a voice at the school and district levels and are encouraged to share constructive input and recommendations at meetings. ALL parents and guardians of students registered at Rochester are voting members of the PAC and are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings which are held in the school staff lunch room generally on the third Monday of the month, at 7:00 pm sharp, and last about an hour and a half. About Rochester PAC The Rochester Parent Advisory Council (RPAC) consists of any and all parents with a child enrolled at Rochester. There is no limit to the role this group can play in the context of this learning community. Our goal is to have an adequately resourced, equipped, and engaged school community so as to enhance the educational, physical, and emotional development of our children. We listen, discuss, advise, inform, support, serve, contribute, and engage in many aspects of school life. ! WHAT WE BELIEVE As parents and caregivers, we believe our children's educational experiences are more successful if we are involved in supporting their education. PAC's MISSION RPAC’s mission is to advocate for excellence in education, the safety and well being of our students, and for the effective and meaningful involvement of parents as partners. The RPAC will provide a forum for consultation between school and parents, to assist with and contribute to various school related activities, and to promote the development of positive school-community relations. The RPAC supports our school as a healthy, vibrant place of progressive learning. We enrich the school life of our students, families, and staff through projects that build a legacy of pride, advocacy, and belonging. The values that guide our efforts are: * RESPECT for each other and the environment * ACCOUNTABILITY - making mistakes; it’s how we learn * COMMUNITY connectedness * SUSTAINABILITY in our projects École Rochester Elementary School PAC Expanded 411 PAC MEETINGS From September through to June (with the exceptions of December and March), the PAC meets on a Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm precisely (to 8:30 pm) in the Rochester Elementary School Staff Room.
