Laptop Program 2013-2014
At RNS, laptop computers are an integrated component of the academic program. Students and teachers access
the school network through their wireless connection and also via the hard‐wired ports located throughout the
school.
The RNS network serves over 300 laptops. To provide a top quality computer and efficient service, we have
developed a successful partnership with Dell Canada. These laptops come with a three year on‐site warranty
through Dell’s Complete Care Coverage program. Our full‐time IT staff ensures that repairs to laptops will be
completed on‐site within 48 hours. This Complete Care warranty covers repairs to the laptop as well as repairs or
replacement for any damage that is caused by accidents or other incidents beyond reasonable control. Please note
that this coverage does not include damage caused by intentional acts, fire, theft or loss. As the computer you
purchase for your child is your property, these incidents must be covered by your homeowner’s insurance. Please
ensure that adequate coverage is in place.
The laptop models accepted on the RNS network must be ordered through our Dell Premier Site. Once there, you
will see five blank text boxes in which you will input your information and select a password. Please note that the
password must meet the criteria listed in red in the paragraph at the top of the page.

Once on this site, you will be able to choose from three different Dell laptop models configured specifically for
RNS. The standard configurations for the computers are outlined on our Dell Premier Site and are built with
specifications that will allow your son/daughter to perform all of the functions needed during their time at
Rothesay Netherwood School. Note that although the laptops have a 3 year Complete Care Warranty, the battery
warranty is only valid for 12 months after the date of purchase.
Dell delivers the laptop to the school where it will be configured for our network. Rothesay Netherwood School is a
licensed provider and will install the required programs for you. Once the laptop is configured, you will be
contacted to make arrangements to pick up your computer and receive a brief laptop orientation during one of our
nd
th
laptop orientation nights – August 22 and August 27 , at 7pm. It is recommended that you attend with your
child. Computers may also be picked up during the first few days of school.
Please place your order on our Dell Premier Site by July 12th so that our staff has sufficient time to configure the
laptop and to install the necessary software. If you have any questions, please contact our IT Department at
it@rns.cc or (506) 848‐0858.
