Accenture is teaming with Conexão, a Youth Business International network member, to help underprivileged youth receive professional training and job search support in Brazil. Skills to Succeed Skills to Succeed is Accenture’s corporate citizenship initiative, which focuses on advancing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in both mature and emerging markets. Corporate citizenship is fundamental to Accenture’s character and the way we run our company as a high-performance business. It is anchored in our core values, our Code of Business Ethics and, ultimately, reflected by our people who live and work in communities around the world. Skills to Succeed draws on one of Accenture’s core competencies—training talent—to help address the need for skills that open doors to employment around the world. At the same time, Skills to Succeed harnesses the powerful combination of our financial support and the pro bono contributions of time and Accenture employee skills to make a difference in our communities. We launched Skills to Succeed in 2009 and the following year we set an overarching goal for our efforts: by 2015, Skills to Succeed initiatives will equip 250,000 people around the world with skills to get a job or build a business. By the end of fiscal 2012, we had surpassed our goal by equipping more than 320,000 people with workplace and entrepreneurial skills. As a result, we increased our commitment to help 500,000 people globally by 2015. We exceeded our original goal by working with global and local nonprofit partners that deliver measurable employment and entrepreneurship outcomes at scale. Additionally, our geographic programs accelerated our progress by shaping locally-relevant strategies in their markets. 500,000 By 2015, Skills to Succeed initiatives will equip 500,000 people around the world with the skills to get a job or build a business In 2010, Accenture and the Accenture Foundations committed to contribute more than US$100 million by the end of 2013 to support our corporate citizenship efforts, through global and local giving, as well as pro bono contributions of time and Accenture employee skills. Since then, we have contributed cash and in-kind support equivalent to $US98 million. Our Global Impact At the heart of Skills to Succeed is the measurable impact we have achieved through our long-term relationships with strategic partners—by increasing marketplace competitiveness and economic resilience, building sustainable businesses and creating employment opportunities. Today, we have more than 200 collaborative initiatives with strategic partners worldwide. A few highlights include: • Working with Junior Achievement and Junior Achievement Young Enterprise to equip young people with workplace and entrepreneurial skills in more than 19 countries. • Teaming with Plan International to provide training and career opportunities to approximately 7,100 underprivileged young people in Thailand and Indonesia in industries such as information technology, customer relations, business process outsourcing and electronic repair. • Helping Save the Children provide approximately 7,000 disadvantaged and at-risk young people in Egypt, Indonesia and the Philippines with vocational and life skills that assist them in securing lasting employment. Accenture is supporting Save the Children to help provide Chinese students with training in IT skills. • Working with Youth Business International to equip the organization’s global network of nonprofit affiliates – such as Conexão in Brazil – with improved tools, funding, mentoring and training to help 33,500 disadvantaged young people around the world become thriving entrepreneurs. Looking ahead, we will continue to build out our strategy with a focus on driving impact and achieving scale through the use of technology and collaboration. Our vision is to maintain our focus on Skills to Succeed, accelerating, strengthening and deepening impact, as we increase shared value for Accenture, clients and the community. “Skills are a driver of economic empowerment for individuals and communities alike, and the need is greater than ever to have the right skills to build capabilities and confidence that will open doors to employment across both mature and emerging markets. Skills to Succeed helps people develop those skills so they can get jobs, build businesses and contribute to their communities.” - Jill Huntley, Managing Director – Global Corporate Citizenship, Accenture Read more at www.accenture.com/ skillstosucceed Follow us at www.facebook/ accenturecommunity About Accenture Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, with approximately 275,000 people serving clients in more than 120 countries.
